    Rip,

In looking at your novice programs and the slight variations in the pulling protocols is there a reason why I have never heard of you prescribing the following program?:

    MON: Squats, Press/Bench, Power Cleans
WED: Squats, Bench/Press, Pullups, Back Raises
    FRI: Squats, Press/Bench, Deadlifts

The reason I ask such a seemingly stupid question is because I have been doing this program for 6 weeks and have made great progress. I modified it only for time considerations (Cleans take the longest and I have the most time on Mondays, etc). But I tweaked my low-back two weeks ago and am using my recovery time to try to find the cause. Form, "shit happens", and over-training the low-back are my three suspects. I'm looking at #3 with this post obviously.

Thank you sir, I appreciate your good-will and your good business.

You got me by the ass. I have never written a novice program like this? I usually want a rank novice deadlifting more than once a week, and I usually want a more advanced novice cleaning and deadlifting more than back-extending, but this looks okay.

I'm guessing that the aforementioned program would be good for a novice who can't recover adequately from deadlifting multiple times a week, but who should also be deadlifting more often than once every two weeks as is the case with the program outlined on pg. 110.

    Or am I way off?
