    Rip,

The owner of my gym, who is familiar with you and likes your program, advised me to do cleans at the front of my B workouts and squats at the end. His reasoning was that being tired from squats would be sufficiently detrimental to my power clean form that I would not be able to maintain proper technique, thus risking injury.

Hurling a bunch of weights at my face over and over again seems like an inherently risky maneuver, but I suppose he thinks doing it tired is going too far. I told him I'd consult you.

Your thoughts? Is there a page in SS 2nd ed. that speaks to this so I can show him something?

    Bottom line up front:

Squat before you press, and press before you pull....
(Squat, then Bench or Press, then Deadlift or PC)

If the Power Clean, snatch, or clean and jerk are tested lifts, then it is okay to do them before.

Real world application: The USBSF tests me on squat and power clean. I had the bright idea that since i had a strong squat, i would start doing PC in front to bring them up because....my legs are fatigued from the squats, blah, blah, blah.... Did not help at all. My PC stayed the same and my squat started to suffer.
