    Mark,
I am actively competing in raw powerlifting and have a 545 squat and a 600 deadlift. I am 250 pounds and 36 years old and have been training for powerlifting for two years. I currently squat once a week and want to bump that to two similar to the Texas method. From your coaching experience and at my strength level, is the standard 5x5 volume and triple or five on intensity day the best way to do this? If the volume is to much, is it better to drop some sets or lower the weight?
    Thank you,
    Mike

I would have you do the 5x5 on Monday, and then alternate doubles and singles across on Friday. Straight TM is better for new intermediates, and you'll get stale on it pretty quick. When you exhaust the potential of this program, you're probably ready for Westside.

Thank you sir. This is how I plan on setting it up. I bench once a week.

    Mon:
    5x5 squat
    alternate rack and haltings

    Fri:
    5x1 or 5x2 across
    power clean 5x3
