Rip, Are back off sets performed at 80% of working weight by strict definition?

Do you ever program a lighter weight for more volume after heavy sets- like 50% or 60% of working weight for sets of 2 -if the total volume of weight moved was the same as a set at 80% does it provide comparable stress?

    Thanks

Yes, the definition of a backoff set is very strict, so strict in fact, that 81% or 78% does not constitute a backoff set. They are 80% of workset, by strict definition. We don't even have a word for sets done after the work sets that weigh, for example, 75% of that work set, because that type of set has yet to be defined. It is similar -- but not quite like -- division by zero.
