Starting Strength with Cerebral Palsy
Hi everybody,
A friend of mine wants to start barbell strength training and he has minor cerebral palsy - he says his left side is a weaker (more so than would be normal for a right handed person) and more worryingly, the bones are a bit shorter - not noticeably so, but he walks with a slight limp. On our first day today, he was able to squat quite well (for a 1st timer), but insisted on doing a DB bench press so that he wouldn't favor his right side.
My question is, is this a condition that requires modifying the SS template, or will the barbell movements amplify the right-left disparity and result in injuries?
Thanks!

I depends on how severely it affects him. I have never worked with this situation before, and I don't know if the effects are simply morphological, or if there are neuro and physiological complications as well, that might affect recovery.
