Could you mention, gently, that brevity is the soul of wit?

She's blogging, not writing a newspaper article.

Have you read the Grantland sports blogs? The writing style reminds me a bit of that site. She's got the same kind of knack for critical commentary that those guys do.

All too common in the world of sports and entertainment. It's heartening to see someone else is less than enthused about this phenomenon than old conservative white guys like me. The ideal person in pop culture, which seems to increasingly include sports figures, is well known by many rather than well regarded by any number of people. They have (or had) a lot of money which is more important than how they acquired said money. Earning it almost seems anathema as opposed to the mere possession of it. They dress with a lot of flash to increase their profile, name recognition, and notoriety rather than simply clothe some dignity. Finally, their conquests are more important than their lasting commitments. Sapp may be male, but I can think of more than a few non-males who fit this template too.

The article I read, she used 5129 words.

I think that's too many. YMMV.

I'll stay a reader for a week, because I like sports, and it also helps that her perspective doesn't clash with mine. But if her pieces remain that long, I'll have to drop her.

That will crush her spirit. Please PLEASE don't do that to her. She desperately depends on you.
