    Default eccentric phase of the deadlift

    was wondering, can you benefit from lowering the deadlift slowly and tight?
    except for extra load on your lumbars, could that also get your jumping or sprinting better?

    That would be the function of the assistance exercise known as the RDL. Best not to alter your deadlifts so that you can't lift as much weight by fatiguing the muscles eccentrically that you'll need on the next rep concentrically. Novices sprint times always benefit from deadlifting.
