Decline wide grip bench....
....sumo rack pulls...
The decline press is a rather useless exercise because the angle of the back in the decline
position shortens the distance the bar can travel, decreasing the amount of work done by decreasing
the range of motion. By decreasing the difficulty, the decline press increases the weight that can be
used in the exercise, which in turn leads to inflated perceptions of one's ability - it is essentially
masturbation, much like that which is possible with a 30-degree leg press or a half-squat. SS3
Can't help but wonder that decline press is like doing dips upside down.
I thought Ripp mentions in the book that decline is bad for your shoulders?
No comparison whatsoever.... Dips have a pretty good ROM, I guess as far as one takes them...which most people go all the way down or pretty far. I can't say as much for declines with a bar...and it seems like everyone at my gym does them with a pretty wide grip with a lot of weight.
