    Thanks ddhahn. It's my 30th birthday on Monday and I will be out on the town Saturday. I think I'll have a few drinks but I won't drink ale as last time it set my foot off so I'll stick to vodka or something. Being hydrated has definitely helped. Hopefully I can get allopurinol too. That'd be a God send

    Talking alcohol - for me, "clear" shots (vodka, slivovice - not sure if you're familiar, it's plum liquor) are pretty much OK in any amount. Less OK is whiskey, brandy and stuff like that, and wine. Small (= not devastating) amounts are OK, but if I'm getting drunk from wine, I'll definitely know it the next day, footwise. Beer is the worst, even the non-alcoholic one (albeit better than alcoholic).
    Also, STOP drinking ALL sweetened drinks - soda stuff.
