And if you’re interested in other (inferior IMHO, but still good) Bond movies, I’d consider watching From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, and Goldeneye. On Her Majesty’s Secret Service likely would have been in the pantheon with a better cast, and Skyfall is pretty damn good until it takes a cheesy turn as the James Bond version of Home Alone, but I still have an affinity for both. Spectre was a huge disappointment, as it managed the nearly impossible task of squandering Christoph Waltz.

If you really want to fully appreciate Austin Powers (the first and only really good one), Thunderball and You Only Live Twice are also worth seeing, although I wouldn’t consider either to be great movies.

Saw Into the Spider Verse with my kids, and I think it may be the best superhero genre movie of 2018. It connects all the other Spiderman movies (the actors who played Spiderman in the first three movies are rumored to have parts in the sequel) and is just plain entertaining. The visual style of the animation is probably the best I've seen, very innovative. I think it may also have implications for Avengers: Endgame as well.

Rip, I think you might actually like it, but I don't know if you are a cartoon guy. In that vein, the old Batman: The Animated series movie, Mask of the Phantasm, is another animated comic book movie worth the viewing. They recently released a remastered Blu-Ray for it. If it would have been live action, they would have rated it R.

D.C. animated movies are far superior to DC live action films. Mask of the Phantasm is an excellent recommendation for a classic noir.

Then change the tone with Flashpoint, a hard R for violence modern animated film.

Then Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay, for a glimpse at what the live action film could have been.

There are a bunch of titles and some are stronger than others, however most are very enjoyable.

A couple of the earlier films had short movies included with the main title. One of them was a pretty interesting horror short with the Spectre character.

Oh, there’s that under the radar prequal that Warner Brothers did for The Dark Knight called Gotham Knight. Gives a lot of background to the rise of the Joker, the gang wars and corruption in Gotham prior to the Dark Knight. It’s in an Anime style, and Kevin Conroy reprised his role.

I've decided to start working my way through Art of Manliness' '100 Must See Movies: The Essential Men's Movie Library' list - first up is 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly'. Haven't watched a western for ages, so I'm really looking forward to it. Any reviews?

Also an outstanding book. Fantastic mix of ecology, horror, and sci-fi.

I really enjoyed it. I think I liked 'For a Few Dollars More' the best just for the musical pocket watch.

I bought Blade Runner 2049's special edition today. What an amazing film and an incredible sequel.

Just watched American Graffiti, George Lucas's second movie. It's been a while since I've seen it, and it was much better than I remembered. Richard Dreyfuss was exceptionally good in this movie.

Just saw "Green Book" with my sixteen-year-old daughter and we both loved it.

What a great film this was. Lot of fun, not preachy or heavy-handed, great characters, great acting, great direction, and funny. The Academy will probably ignore it because it dealt with racism in the deep South during 1962 but had a white director who's obviously ill-qualified to address the "black experience". They'll probably also criticize it because it wasn't dark or edgy and they'll say it was "facile".

I'm honestly delighted that this film was made. It proves that there are people who want to deal with serious issues but also understand that audiences sometimes go to movies to be entertained and to feel good.

I hope it makes the producers a sack of money.
