The first truly, deeply scary movie I ever watched: Idiocracy.

I get that it was "supposed" to be a comedy, and comedy must contain some small portion of truth... but Idiocracy contained too MUCH truth.

If one is a fan of the games, they might enjoy it. I am, and I did. However, it's hard to follow if you don't know the background story.

Hey Rip, I finally got to watching 2001: A Space Odyssey this weekend, after you recommended it when we talked for the podcast back in April. I'd watched it probably 15 years ago, and liked it, but was too young to really appreciate it. It's a helluva film.

It's a complete failure as a narrative film. Anyone who says different doesn't understand narrative storytelling.

As an art film, it's one of the greatest ever made.

This distinction needs to be made.

It's not a narrative film. That's why Kubrick was not associated with the novel, released after the film was made. He did not want it explained.
