Jojo Rabbit was hilarious if you're looking for something different. Some good belly laughs from the start and all the way through. Taika Waititi does a great job lampooning Hitler.

Many great films would make a poor novel, and many great novels are turned into poor movies.
Very much agree with your bloated plot statement. Films are getting so damn long these days, I'm on a real kick at the moment on watching films sub two hours. Eighty to ninety minutes is the sweet spot.

I saw Dolittle with my daughter. Thought it was cute. Not as good as the original with Rex Harrison and Anthony Newly. Apparently, judging by the way that film was panned i was the only one that liked it.

What was interesting was that in the new one, there's a scene where a gorilla puts a tiger to sleep with a rear naked choke (gable grip, not full lock-up). Some CGI guy must train jiu-jitsu!

I watched Parasite about a week ago and thought it was a really good thriller, and borderline a horror movie, it was very well shot. I'm not sure if I thought it was best picture material and believe that was more of a political move giving it best picture.

On the other hand, is anyone excited about The French Dispatch?

I loved it. Best since Pulp Fiction. A great film.
