If your grip is not a limiting factor using DOH, because it feels secure and is not slipping, is there any reason to use mixed or hook (other than to prepare for when you'll need those)?

So let's recap.
A mixed grip allows a lifter to lift more than hook grip correct? Lifting more weight = stronger lifter. If I am lifting to get strong and don't plan on competing do I need to ever mix my grip? It seems to me a mixed grip=more weight which is essential for a competitive lifter but a higher risk of unnecessary injury for a lifter who just wants to compete against themselves. Please advise.
Do you think Dr. F could have hooked this?

I started doing it after seeing it suggested in a DL grip thread on the forums a while back. I gave it a shot and found that it helped my grip feel more secure. It's now part of my warmup ritual. I rip the tape lengthwise and wrap the phalanges of my thumbs, and proximal and middle phalanges of my index and middle fingers.
