    Rip, it looks like Chase has the bar starts a fair bit lower down his shin compared to your previous video on these (mid shin vs just below the knee). Have I seen that incorrectly?

    They are performed from various pin settings. This one is lower than that illustrated in the book.

    What's the reason for a forward of midfood start position?

    It is not forward of mid-foot. It is slightly behind, maybe 1/2 inch, because the rack pull uses a slightly more horizontal back angle than a deadlift.

    I do my DL in a rack set from the pins.Im tall so this places them at the mid shin position.

    Then they are not deadlifts. They are rack pulls.

    If the barbell is behind the mid foot, what prevents the bar from losing contact with the legs and swing to the mid foot while pulling? I assume this does not happen

    The lats. And it is a very slight position change from the deadlift at that point in the ROM, and not everybody does them exactly the same way, and the position changes immediately as the pull starts, and lots of other things. What is your actual concern here?

    That's interesting. What is your main consideration in determining how much ROM to use? Will it change in the same trainee over time?
