    I'm going to assume that you, as a man with an independent streak, have had to perform some self surgery so I turn to your expertise.

    I just iced, tied off then snipped off a large skin tag on my upper left thigh. I now have a hole around the size of a pencil eraser in my left upper groin area. It has pretty much stopped bleeding, but is still open and raw, obviously.

    Any recommendations on how to train without the thing opening up again, causing blood to run down my thigh and making me look like I'm menstruating? I'm specifically looking for OTC medications/chemicals that would impede the bleeding but not impede training, but am open to any advices. I suppose I could wear sweat pants - I have some old school adidas tracksuit pants I could wear.

    This is a ridiculous, but real request.

    The most accessible coagulant is oxymetazoline nasal spray. Wet a tissue with the stuff and tape it over the wound for a while. Maybe you didn't fuck up and chop a hole all the way through the dermis.

    I typically apply topical aluminum chloride immediately after skin tag removal, skin biopsies, etc.

    Oxymetazoline. I think I have some already. Good to know. Thanks, as always.

    You can probably find some aluminum chloride powder based styptic stick in the shaving aisle at a Walgreens or something.

    I keep a styptic pencil with aluminum chloride plus benzocaine that comes in handy way, way too often laying around in my work van. Might be a decent idea to keep one in your gym bag, too.

    Just like warts, skin tags have a carrot root and seem to bleed forever...

    I have a different one the size of a small bar of soap from The Art of Shaving store.
    I've had it for 10 years of occasional use, would probably last 800 years based on how much is left.

    Actually what I use is a block of alum (aluminum sulfate);

    For next time: buy a hemostat ($5-$10 on Amazon) and a pair of surgical scissors (same price)(nail scissors would work too). Dunk them both in hydrogen peroxide and then alchohol. Shake off excess alchohol. Clamp the hemostat onto the skintag as deeply into the jaws of the hemostat as you can and leave it for two minutes. Remove the hemostat and cut carefully through the middle of the crush line.
