Why are there not additional weight classes in powerlifting and strengthlifting that split 275# and above? Using strengthlifting as an example, why not a 120, 150, and 150+ class? Is it not commercially viable (not enough entries for a competition) or are very large guys (e.g. 6'8 400#) going to be equally competitive against a 6'0 330# guy due to the distance the weight needs to move despite their additional power?

An aside, but Rip, do you think for a competitive lifter at 6’, being a 275er is a goal they should strive for as a general rule? I have no real basis for this question other than seeing 275 guys who happen to be 6’ tall be really damn strong.
Most higher-level competitive lifters who are 6-foot are at least 275. As a general rule, the height/bodyweight trends across the weight classes are instructive.
