Great article! I would add that “not letting yourself down” by 1) showing up and being in the room; and 2) holding yourself to the highest standards, consistently, creates discipline. I also think it is developed through the process of failure and yet stepping back up to the bar anyhow to give it another try. This is a transferable skill that extends to all other areas of the person’s life. Finally, I would add the meditative benefits resulting from the need to focus on this one movement, and not what happened at the office, on the way home, etc.
