Crazy as hell. And useful. Quit bathing the poor thing all the time. That will help.
I have a long-haired dog, and his skin really suffers in the Southern California heat. Frequent baths help a little, but neither of us enjoy those. His vet has him on antibiotics and allergy pills, but those don't seem to do anything for his skin. I recently shaved him (using a #1 comb) and rubbed him down with gym chalk (Magnesium Carbonate). It worked wonders! His skin is now dry. His irritation is gone, and his scabs are clearing up. He usually goes out to the garage with me on lifting days, and now, in between sets, he begs to be chalked like other dogs beg at the table.
Just thought you might find this useful.

Wow. Who knew? Coach, I have not gotten to your podcast about dogs, and I need to know more. Just got a puppy for the kids.
I was told locally produced honey will help with allergy problems in humans and dogs.
My 1st dog had skin issues that came from commercial poultry, even the rendered fat is sometimes used in Lamb,Salmon or Beef formulas. Diet change and all was good, no more nastiness. My last 2 dogs show signs of skin and ear issues if they eat commercial chicken/turkey/duck. Wild doesn’t bother them.

I suggest zinc oxide instead of chalk, it's also used for babies, it creates a barrier that protects the skin and is cheap.
And then you have a white greasy dog. Perfect.
