    I considered that possibility too, but I have sense talked to several other people in the fitness industry and someone connected to a D1 football program and they also said that they don't think that (bearing bars) should be used for the bench press.

    I don't get this. A weight spinning on a bar would have angular momentum, but would not impart any lateral motion to the bar. And if the weights spin freely as the OP stated they would not impart much if any spin to the bar. I think the OP is trying to lift too much weight.

    Seems to me like weights that spin easier would allow your wrists to more easily rotate forward/backward with the bar in your grip, while a less spin prone bar would resist this wrist movement which would effectively be like attempting to spin the bar. Thus, the bearing bar feels more stable, as your wrist doesn't have to stay as perfectly balanced to prevent the bar/wrist spin.
