I have advocated this for years. However, I am not a fan of half naked. I prefer mostly naked!

My mother is adamantly against the use of sunscreen and scolded me for using it almost every sunny day. Knowing what I know from the authorities' recommendation and "health expert" opinions, plus the fact that she didn't have a smart reason for her opposition, I thought she was just being a mad and stubborn old woman. Joke's on me.

This is what happens when you don't praise the sun.

It seems reasonable, other than the complete pendulum swing where suddenly the sun grants healing to all ailments, as if we all become Cal El when exposed to our yellow god of atomic power. I imagine that, like in most things, a certain amount of balance is necessary in this application.

Almost as though trying to manipulate complex systems by only considering a single factor can have unintended consequences...

    Great quote.

When I spoke with Weller, I made the mistake of characterizing this notion as counterintuitive. “It’s entirely intuitive,” he responded. “Homo sapiens have been around for 200,000 years. Until the industrial revolution, we lived outside. How did we get through the Neolithic Era without sunscreen? Actually, perfectly well. What’s counterintuitive is that dermatologists run around saying, ‘Don’t go outside, you might die.’”

Interesting. I've always avoided sunscreen. My dad has had a few melanomas, but his blood pressure has always been great.
