    Coach,

I’m 6’2, 230 with a 520 DL, 385 squat, 205 press and 235 bench press and can do 3 chin ups with 75 pounds hanging. What in your experience explains why someone’s bench is so weak versus their other lifts? Thank you.

    What program are you following?

Thanks, Coach. I did SS which got my squat to 315 for 5 and dead for 405 for 5 and press to 155 for 5. I stalled on 190 for 5 on my bench. Now I do each big lift twice a week I’ll squat and deadlift on the same day twice a week, I’ll press and do weighted chin ups twice, and bench twice. I generally work to a peak set at RPE 8 for 5 on each lift and do 3 work sets.

Right. You're not doing the program. RPE doesn't work, as you have discovered independently. Do the fucking program. As written in the fucking books.

If I open an SS gym can I have this slogan on the back of my business cards?

Probably just not using the right kind of RPE unicorn dust on your muscles.

RPE seems to be working just fine for all the other lifts...

Are you impressed with his 385 squat at 6'2" and 230?

It's nothing spectacular but seems reasonable if his end-of-LP 315x5 was somewhat recent. Given that his deadlift is so far ahead and presses so far behind, I would guess he's also got pretty long arms. Not that my opinion matters.

    starting strength coach development program
Then why share it with us? The man weighs 230, and his bench "stalls" at 190 x 5??? Because he's not doing the program.
