Interview on Science Friday
My normal routine on Friday afternoon is to sit in the garage sipping on an adult beverage, listening to Science Friday with Ira Flatow. Today he did a segment with a lady who had done a literature review on various protocols followed by athletes. Her most interesting conclusions were that (1) stretching is not usually beneficial, (2) you only need to drink water when you start getting thirsty, not before, (3) icing after exercise is not effective, and (4) protein is beneficial but you can ingest it anytime during the day, no post workout window needed. I kept hoping she would say that training for and running a marathon is not healthy.
