I remember back when Scientific American was not a tabloid rag.
Scientific American is full of fools:
Colin Wright on Twitter: "More gibbering nonsense from Scientific American arguing testosterone isn't relevant for influencing athletic performance. I wonder why it's a banned substance in nearly every sports league on Earth and is considered a "performance enhancing" drug? https://t.co/9IoYrOm1SG"
I remember back when Scientific American was not a tabloid rag.
It's a shame that the likes of Tucker Carlson, Fox News and a 'conservative Christian law firm' are the ones publicly on the side of science and fairness here - ten years ago that was the domain of us on the Left.
Getting the opinion of more and more people around me over the past months their main points are universally the same:
- The media spends more time on this than is warranted
- Men are naturally stronger than women
- Transgender people should not be allowed to compete at the expense of women
- It's a complicated issue to contend with
To follow up on this little bit of secular self righteousness, it appears that this particular hobby horse of athletics and the potty wars engendered* (if that isn't too big a vocabulary word for some) by Obama may be proving counterproductive for the True Believers. Is America Running Out of Patience with LGBT Activism? - Public Discourse
*Not to mention it's rather ironic usage in this latest theater of the culture wars.
I watched that episode of Tucker Carlson Tonight when he interviewed the young lady and her attorney. I hope she gets justice from her lawsuit; she was well-spoken, although plainly not comfortable with exposing herself to the inevitable back-lash that it will trigger. The "journalist" in this Hartford Courant piece did not mention that the born-as-a-boy athlete has also set 10 state records in various track events in Connecticut while competing in the girls' division; the writer also asserts that Soule's complaint "repeatedly misgenders [sic] Yearwood and Miller, referring to them as boys", which pretty much indicates where this "journalist's" sympathies reside.
Spot on, it's always funny how some of these special interest groups start out with pleas for free speech, open-mindedness and "we can all get along". Once established it turns into a vicious pack of wolves enforcing thought crimes against supposed bigots, racists, nazis, etc... They look for every opportunity to be offended so they can dox and 'out' anyone with a differing viewpoint.
And yet amazingly, I don’t have to step over bodies in the street or squeeze past a crowd of F2M folks in the men’s bathroom anywhere in Cuyahoga County, which went 70/30 for Obama twice. It’s almost as if libbies as a whole really aren’t as motley or hysterical as Fox talking heads seem to claim...
Well, we step over the Homeless every day here in Downtown LA, have mountains of garbage, rat infestations, feces, urine and needles on the sidewalks, unprovoked attacks, and a resurgence of medieval and third world diseases like typhus and typhoid fever. With the voters agreeing to a $1.2 billion bond measure and increased sales taxes just to provide services to the Homeless over the past few years I wonder why the problem just keeps getting worse? Could it be that the one party rule City, County and State are too politically correct to stand up to the ACLU and are too corrupt to reject the bribes from developers who want some of the bond/tax revenue? I have lived in Cali from the Golden Age through the decline and can only report the results of the leftist (not liberal) stranglehold on a once beautiful place.
