    I've got a question as it pertains to the explanation. Could it your explanation be stated another way - i.e., "hips-low" is inefficient because of the tendency to maintain that back angle through the pull (because the pull is essentially a submaximal deadlift) and therefore whip with a sub-optimal moment arm at the jump position?

    No, because the acceleration happens before the "jump" position. High hips allows the bar to be accelerated more effectively over a longer percentage of the pull.
