You and Paulbfast ought to start a club.
Hey Rip,
On June 1st an idiot plowed into the rear of my car. He hit me so hard that it broke my driver's side seat. I ended up face up with lots of pain
Doc mentioned a few times that he was surprised Nothing was broken, especially at my age (67).
I'm still sore but recovering nicely.
I had started lifting again, not too heavy, and I attribute my survival to those deads and presses.
I'm getting my first belt tomorrow and will start training again.
You are right.
You and Paulbfast ought to start a club.
My brother had his first motorcycle crash after completing LP. 50+ mph on gravel. Without gear protecting his skin and a thick layer of muscle protecting his skeleton, we all believe it would have ended in a hospital trip. Instead, he picked the bike back up and finished the trip - with nothing more than some really damn sore and bruised ribs.
Sounds like Paul likes fast cars.
Or breakfast.
My wife had a scooter accident 3 months ago. She fell doing about 50 km/h, and nothing was broken just a dislocated ankle, t went 90 degrees inwards. Doctors were amazed that no bone was broken. She went back to the gym few weeks later, her deadlift is almost 100 kg for sets and squat going up nicely as well. Training not only saved her from more serious injury but also allowed for much quicker recovery. She went from not being able to walk to walking, cycling, training and working in just 2 months.
I just want to say thanks Rip, Starting Strength is awesome.
