Part of the reason I go is for mental health. I have problems with anxiety. A couple of hours a day under a bar that's trying to crush me is the perfect antidote. I'm also trying to get strong, but the recent compliments from neighbours, strangers and friends is not exactly unwelcome

So that walking no longer involves a cane.

So that a project is not merely getting out of a recliner... they now involve laying pavers and useful stuff.

So that I am no longer ashamed of how weak I'd become.

And then, there's a ton less pain.

Where else can you get a deal like that???

Because if you don't lift, you are less.

This is an excellent article. I had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Novitsky and his family at our recent Squat Camp in Long Island. It is always exciting for me to see people in the medical community promoting the benefits of strength. As a PT, my experience has far too often been that physicians actively discourage their patients from acquiring strength by telling them they don't need to do it, will hurt themselves, etc.

Keep up the good work, Doc!
