But I love Folgers Black Silk. That is my work coffee. Better than Army coffee anyway.

My first question was going to be "Rip, are you responsible for this?"

Jim Beam & I had a falling out in my early 20's. We haven't spoken since.

An interesting observation from having trod my way through many distilleries in Kentucky, there are a lot distilleries with master distillers named Beam. Way to many for it to be random. You many not respect Jim Beam's whiskey but you do have to respect the family name.

45K barrels is not a big deal to them. I think they make somewhere around 1M barrels a year. A couple of weeks ago I was at they tour and they were building what looked like a couple of new rick houses down near the road. I suspect this fire will have much less effect than the Heavenly Hills fire back in the 1990s. That one burned a processing facility which hurts much more than the rickhouses which can be rebuilt and resupplied, if you still have a processing facility.

On a lighter note, I read that they thing lighting started the fire. Maybe the angels were happy with their share?

PS: Some dramatic images from the Heavenly Hills fire.

What I learned today: Jim Beam is actually made in barrels.

I want to say his name is Mark Klein, but it could be another comedian I am miscrediting. He talks about being from Kentucky, and mentions Bourbon. Asks the audience their favorite, someone yells Jim Beam. He asks where the man is from, it's not Kentucky. Comedian says if he was from Kentucky he would have known the proper answer is Maker's Mark. But if he is insistent on having Jim Beam, there is an easy way to make your own. Get a bottle of Maker's Mark, and drink. When the time comes to take a piss, grab a cup and catch it. Now you have a cup of Jim Beam.
