Great video - this must be our good friend BroadDaylight who posted some impressive statistics on the SS Austin thread yesterday. Just another terrific example of 'show up, work hard and do the program'. Well done Kathy, and also well done all the Austin coaches.

Yes! Kathy is an impressive woman. I have the privilege of working with Kathy as an apprentice coach at SSAustin. Kathy works out with her husband, Dennis, who is another 60+ yr old (Dennis has pins in his back due to major back injury years ago). These 2 are among the hardest workers in the gym. Their work ethic and their dedication to getting stronger is an inspiration to all the younger lifters. On top of it all, they are just great people and fun with work with.

SSA attracts people of all ages and fitness levels. One of the things I like most about the gym is the diversity of the lifters who come in. Every Saturday morning we have a "Squats and Tacos" event and we see a steady stream of people from all walks of life who are interested in coming in and learning more about the gym and what we do there. We have seen trainers from local gyms, strength coaches from universities, neighbors from the surrounding area who are just curious, friends of current lifters who have been persuaded to come in and "test drive" the program and meet Joyce. People from all walks of life in all shapes and sizes. When they come in for a taco, we invite any who want to do so to learn to squat-and nearly all of them want to get under a barbell. Afterwards, they can observe our coaches and lifters going about their business.

It's a great event and something I enjoy very much.

So, if you are curious about how we work it in Austin, I hope you'll stop by whenever you're in town!
