I usually delete this dogshit, but it's important for you to know why I say the things I do about D1 and pro S&C coaches.

Hey, at least no one was doing barbell lifts on bouncy balls.

Undulating periodization, you say? Sounds very scientific.

Last year I was watching some CFB and there was a highlight on one of the Ducks' players, training under the mustache coach. Video of a 335ish lb guy half-squatting 675 for one rep with everyone in the weight room losing their minds.
My numbers might be off, but essentially it wasn't even a 2xBW squat to depth. It's silly that anyone finds that to be impressive, or indicative of an 'effective strength program.'

If you've ever talked to someone world-renowned in their field, you'll noticed how well they can communicate complex concepts in simple terms to laymen. The people who cannot contain their excitement about their own intelligence and only know enough to impress laymen are the ones who love to use their vocabulary to let everyone know how smart they are.

Because they don't know any better. Because they place too much trust in authority figures. Because complexity appeals to the lazy, naive, uneducated or unintelligent. Because the strength coach who is half the size of his trainees is more interested in being in control of the athletes, rather than getting them stronger. Because the "literature" said so.... we can go on and on.

"undulating periodization" is as self-explanatory as "low bar squat". Throwing around jargon vs. understanding exactly what they mean and how to use them is a different story.
