    Are Swiss bars or football bars good alternatives for people with history of repaired rotator tears? Or does it make much difference at all?

    Swiss bars are unstable. This is the first thing you notice when you handle them. If you believe that strength is the rehab adaptation you want, is instability in this position more effective for developing strength than a heavier stable bar that can be increased incrementally? Important question!

    Thanks for the reply. The supraspinatus tendon has been quite an adversary. Was hoping modifying the grip would help. But I guess it will be back to the old bar after all.

    Use a close grip on an actual bar.
