Enjoyed the piece! Especially the citation from Dr. G.E.P. Box: All models are wrong; some are more useful than others. Often, people express their disappointment or how scandalous it is when climate researchers adjust historical data to better fit their models. True, it is not quite scientifically kosher to do so; but the underlying premise that the model is correct and the data need to be adjusted to fit is the *real* error they make. All models are wrong; if the data need to be fudged to make the model "work", it is not a useful model. QED
