Republicans in Pennsylvania and Arizona at least tried to do just that as I recall. Which of course has gone unacknowledged in the MSM.

I guess you'd have to ask them, but the Constitution is very specific about this.
Then why does everybody keep bitching about standing?

Did the Texas AG have standing to file suit against another state, for that state’s executive branch’s alleged failure to follow the statutes written by that state’s legislature?

Pelosi consulted with the chairman of the joint chiefs about preventing the president from authorizing use of nuclear weapons.

I am the most rational person on this board but isn’t that unconstitutional? Treasonous? Something?

Could you explain what you mean about "bitching"?

If we were still under the Articles of Confederation, maybe there'd be some possibility of standing. The states taxing and squabbling with each other and refusing to work together was a problem. There were all kinds of legal actions going between them then. But when we ditched that in the 18th Century in favor of the Constitution, this concept got eclipsed.

As much as I would have liked to have seen those suits go forward to get at least SOME ACTUAL judicial hearing and review of the shenanigans that went on, beyond the reflexive determination of judges to dismiss so as not to get involved, I knew the attempt was doomed.

IMO, this is why dem state governors pushed the harsh Kung Flu measures. To keep the legislators from meeting. Of course it only works with a dem majority in the legislative branch to play along and not call a session. At least in Illinois. Maybe not in the other states that pulled this crap. But in any event, the legislators got frozen out.

COVID was very useful in several ways.

Right. Because they lack foresight and balls.

While there's something to that, events at least in Illinois were moving so fast and were so fluid that it was impossible to predict what forms dem fuckery might take. In this state a legislative session can be called by the governor, the speaker of the house, or the senate majority leader. All three were and are dems and with a supermajority in both legislative branches. It's worth noting that the dem governor of next door Kentucky had some much tougher sledding because the legislature has republican majorities, and the secretary of state, and the attorney general are also republicans. Which is one of the reasons why the Taylor shooting hasn't gotten quite traction as some of the others. The attorney general is black himself. Kind of puts a damper on charges of institutional racism.

The CV-19 distraction, an absolute God send for politicians. Not being a suspicious person by nature, but you would have to admit it was perfect timing or a fantastic fluke of nature that this thing arrived on the US shores just in time to disrupt what appeared to be then an absolute landslide by the Deplorable. It came by folk from overseas and slipped through the front gate unnoticed. The leader of the free world taken out by a virus, a people it appears robbed of their government. How else would you destroy the most powerful leader in the world without firing a shot?

David took out a Giant covered in body armor with a head shot, nothing has changed except the method.

"David defeated Goliath with a sling and a rock. He killed him without even using a sword." Sam 17v50
