Maybe. Why?

The most puzzling thing to me is, Germany is the only country in the world with actual repressive resources to implement the COVID fascism. Nasty cops, armored, in shape, a bunch of them per capita, all that jazz. Everywhere else, it is the people who have been implementing the restrictions on themselves.
The avoidance of jaywalking by the lAw-aBiDeRs is an apt analogy.
Last week I was walking the dog near midnight when I saw a guy in a vest, some kind of officer, walking too close to a girl. Hmmm, I thought, I guess the policeman's shift ended, and he's meeting his girlfriend.
Only, as I passed, I heard the girl say no, I walked like this, and the police officer said OK, how about we go look at the video, and the girl just BOOKED down the hill. He shouted вы издеваетесь, что ли? (You must be kidding me!), and took off for her, obviously able to run much faster than the chubby young girl.
He came back grasping her arm, and I incredulously asked whether they enforce pedestrian laws in the middle of the night on a SUNDAY, and he said, well yeah, so I just shouted SHAME at him as he escorted the girl off, though I'd wanted to do more (no matter how bad this crap gets, we need to avoid the savior complex; people should be able to handle themselves and their kin).
I cross this particular road illegally all the time and was floored that someone could get fined for illegally crossing so late on a Sunday night! I relayed the story to my sister-in-law, and she said yeah, well good; pedestrians are getting knocked over like lawns (I guess in English we say like pins?) all the time at that intersection.
(Mind you, this is in a city in the REGIONS of Russia, as they call them; popl. 347k!)
So there it is,Rip. The other lesson being failed is most still think the government create and police enforce these rules for our own good; that we're all like stupid bowling pins who would be toppled by the speed of untainted liberty, were it not for traffic cops fear-fining us back onto the safety of mandated crosswalks.
Well that and how crazy it is for any of us to still be living in these monstrous industrial revolution creations (was that top-down planned as well?) called cities.
Flyover Country Never Sounded So Good!
From Ron Paul, here is another data point about the deadly COVID-19 pandemic: The Ron Paul Institute for Peace and Prosperity : Life Insurance and Covid-19; Something Doesn’t Make Sense
Similar to Dan Pena's take on climate change, what is the money doing?Quote:
You would think that during the worst Pandemic since the 1918 Spanish Flu life insurance companies would be hedging their bets to avoid major losses from Covid-19. I haven’t written a life policy for several years so I was wondering what was going on? I called one of the brokers I deal with that interacts with hundreds of big life insurers to get an inside look into how the Covid crisis has changed their business.
Imagine my surprise when she said it was pretty much business as usual! Last year when the hysteria was just getting ramped up she did say the companies temporarily tightened up underwriting and reduced the amount of coverage they would offer. But as time went by and the hard data came rolling in those same companies went back to business as usual.
I asked this board if life insurance premiums had gone up under COVID. We had a discussion about actuaries, blah, blah. But we all decided that if insurance had not gone up, than life expectancy had not gone down.
I’m not useful for much but I am proud of being original!
i sell lots of life insurance. premiums have not gone up. some underwriting has taken longer, due to people not wanting someone to come to their home to pee/bleed. So, we have to rely on truthful answers on the med questionnaire, take those answers and overlay them with the doctor record and pharmacy scripts. Then ask more questions.
Outside of that, no changes.
I had my best year writing life insurance last year.
Covid: UK could be 'back to normal by the end of the year' if vaccines continue to work, says SAGE
"His comments were echoed by Matt Hancock, who warned a new Covid variant that bypasses vaccines would pose the 'biggest risk ' to lockdown-ending plans next month.
The Health Secretary said the only thing that would prevent England from scrapping more restrictions on June 21 would be the emergence of a mutant strain that makes vaccinated people severely ill."
This above statement smells a little fishy!
While insurance is mostly business as usual, surprise, banks on the other hand are actually tightening up, despite the boatload of money they got from the Fed to allow for mortgage forbearance for more than a year and counting for some.
A loan agent at a major National told me they’ve tightened up their loan to value on credit lines. Before 2020, they were giving 90%+ on properties; now they have pulled back to 80% and below.
That's an interesting question/proposition. Health insurance and life insurance both offer various discounts for things like going for the checkups or not being a smoker. One would think, if the vaccine is such a boon there would be a discount for it in both markets.
