Nurses are a lot like cops. Lots of trauma, hard work, and there's an unusual divide of competency where there are a lot of good and bad, but not a ton of middle-of-the-pack. Nurses make a lot more, typically, so maybe it's just that our society sucks and no longer produces enough people of sufficient education (life/useful/philosophy... not just college) or moral character. I was watching/listening to some old Carson reruns on a slow shift after binge-listening to Don Ellis, Doc Severinsen, and Stan Kenton, and man was it starkly different to now.
