But I think it's more here, and it's why we the voters have failed. When a journalist is killed, a harmless group's parade permit is denied (or, worse, OMON beats up the protestors), or Putin kicks an innocent foreign NGO out of Moscow, I'm sure most Americans, even here, cringe at "authoritarian" Russia. Yet how else but with a "thuggish" leader do you fix the system that is

It isn't authoritarian if the culture wants it and that may be where the problem lies: preventing the tyranny of the majority by protecting the minority's voice is probably what got our culture destroyed. To wit, how many here would have had a problem with BLM's or AntiFa's parade permits having been denied before the Summer of Riots, or journalists having been silenced before the Covid 2-Weeks-to-Stop-the-Spread Madness had begun?

Well, guess the fuck what? Our culture society IS filled with a majority who would have been fine with it all (not just the Covid and BLM points above, but probably a bunch more), yet since we pussyfoot around trying to protect the opinions of the minority from the "tyranny" of the majority, now it is the cultural and societal majority that must choose whether to FIGHT or FLEE, both at great personal cost, all because we will not tolerate the messy, thuggish measures a leader would need to implement to fix all of this. Russia and Japan and Hungary somehow implement the will of the majority with, for example, immigration, without mortally offending those who hold the minority position, yet we just lack the balls to support leaders who would do that, or perhaps our system is simply fatally flawed in giving the minority voices too much power in our society and culture.

Good call, I don't know shit about that country, bro, and I'm not about to research it further to convince some fellow Starting Strengthers when I'm living in a country that ALREADY mostly responds only to majority sentiment in its immigration policy. Just recalled hearing he wanted a wall or denied accepting some [African; Middle-Eastern?] refugees the EU wanted to guilt-trip upon him so I figured Hungary, being less hated and "closer" to the West than #muhRussia, would be more palatable to hear about.
I would love to hear your opinion about why those three countries do what America cannot do [with immigration] better; if it is correlated to needing a more socialist government or being a more Eastern-oriented country that would be fascinating.
My point still stands that you're not required to run around placating the minority voices in your country to be "allowed" to implement the [immigration] policies that the majority of your culture and society desire, even if they sound unjust and "yucky" (allowing immigrant children to die, anyone?), and in fact if you try to do so you are dooming those policies to failure. Now if I'm wrong about the majority/minority split and on CoVid, BLM and immigration "we" here are actually already in the minority in America, it's a whole 'nother ballgame. If that's they case, "they" have succeeded at fundamentally transforming America, and it's time to create an escape plan or begin implementing all the Alinsky-like tactics that were used against American culture and society to try to transform it back. Whether you chose to invest your time and energy, and risk the futures of your children, on the former (escape) or the latter (fundamentally transforming back) is your call, and probably highly dependent on how many trips around the sun you've taken so far.

Makes you wonder what kind of records are going to survive of this age that people 100 years from now are gonna have access to, especially considering that through social media and AI the media corporations will be able to counterfeit video footage and pictures too. And the amount of information available will be virtually infinite and instantaneous, which given our poor little brains, leads me to believe we will not be able to handle it and either reverse the process or become automated robot-like and never have a conscious thought for ourselves. Kinda like a mix between 1984 and Brave New World, where everything is shared and there's no privacy and a fascist regime controls all the information you get so instead of beating compulsion into people, people just censor themselves.

I may have gone too far with the apocalypticism, but there's gotta be some truth to that, since it doesn't sound too different from modern days in some parts of the world.

Anyways, I'll leave my usual George Carlin quote:

Although I saw someone suggesting that since it doesn't make sense because they're obviously losing customers, someone must be bribing them. To me, they're all guilty, I don't care who's in charge. Politicians, financial institutions and big investors funds, Wall Street, Big Pharma companies, Media corporations, the big food and beverages corporations, which are really just Nestlé and Coca Cola, the IT corporations, the military-industrial complex, the entertainment industry, mainly Hollywood, and even the whacky villains like Schwab and Soros.
All these people and entities are obviously evil, and bad for everyone but them, and they need to be gone if we want to improve something, because it feels like the only improvements we ever get, are only side effects of their little schemes and plans that we are allowed to take part in, and everything else just gets shittier: our psychological and physical health through high quantity bits of useless information and dopamine stimulating content and shitty processed food, our environment through pollution of water and air, the quality of our art, the structure of our families, the clarity of our language and the uniqueness of our cultures, and our ingenuity and practical skills.
