I can't speak about diversify hiring in the private sector. But as a retiree with 30 years experience in the NYPD I can tell you it's getting more and more prevalent. I still keep in contact with those still employed and they say the current high ranking positions are being filled by those with little experience or credibility. I imagine the same thing is happening in our military.

Cars are "worse now" for many reasons. Too much government regulation, too much technology, too many outsourced components, and a reduction in skill level from design engineering all the way through to assembly and service. It isn't just the females. I've worked with some exceptionally intelligent women who were really great engineers.

This could have easily been a steel beam structure either free-spanning the short distance, or with a center support in the median if needed. At significantly less cost as well.

It's interesting, the Mackinac Bridge is 5 miles long, built 70 years ago in 600 foot deep Lake Michigan water, and still stands strong today. But this 170 foot pedestrian bridge collapsed within a few days?

OR it could have been an actual suspension supported bridge that it was supposed to look like, at least in part. Again, no one went to jail over this because government.

So is this worsening of the quality of cars your opinion or is it some kind of a demonstrable fact? I’m not trying to pull your chain, I really know almost nothing about cars.

Yes, it's odd they designed this thing to "look" like a suspension bridge with no actual structural support from those aesthetic additions.

Cars and trucks today are far more complex than what's needed for the intended purpose. The added complexity coupled with the inability for the owner to perform routine maintenance and repairs without expensive model-specific diagnostic tools and computers is another part of the problem.

Back in the day, a timing light, a multimeter, a vacuum gauge and some hand tools could keep any car running well with some basic knowledge and maybe a service manual borrowed from the local library.

This will only get much worse with EVs becoming more prevalent.

Providing bullshit that looks good on paper to make it not look arbitrary does not change the fact that it's still arbitrary. You can mold a pile of shit into beautiful shapes and add food coloring to it. Still a pile of shit.

    There are worse Governors: https://twitter.com/GregAbbott_TX/st...40256429985863

I officially declared an invasion at our border because of Biden's policies.

We deployed the Texas National Guard, DPS & local law enforcement.

We are building a border wall, razor wire & marine barriers.

    We are also repelling migrants.

Y'all realize this is an infiltration of military age males that hate America, right?

I won't speculate on the why, because it makes no sense to me. It is, however, happening right in front of us.

Even worse, everything (not just cars) is trying to find a way to adopt the software subscription model, since it has proven itself so lucrative. Back in the day you could buy a copy of Photoshop, for example, and it was yours. Now you basically just rent access to the software on a monthly basis. Everything as a service is just a nicer way of saying "You will own nothing and be happy." I mean, do you even really own a car that spies on you incessantly and can be disabled remotely by the manufacturer at any moment?

Your car collects information on your sexual activity and you consented to it

Imagine how insanely popular a brand new "open source" car that was easy to repair and came with complete schematics would be. I would literally go out and buy one tomorrow. But it will never happen because men like Henry Ford lost to the rise of Clown World's system of baroque usury.

And yes, that actually was Dodge's company logo at the time. I couldn't make this shit up if I tried.
