Some very good posts today. Some excellent ideas. Thank you all.
And what could go better with Marxism than some existentialism?

The most humbling thing about all of this is that we are all as likely to be the tyrant or mob as the poor bastard beaten to death on the street. Almost none of us are heroes.
So let's pay fucking attention, yeah? I'm tired of worrying about the problems. Let's find some solutions -- so long as we keep the 5 rules in mind.
That one's a bit lengthy, Dave. If I get time later, maybe. Give us the 5 rules.

How exactly does this work? It's like Escape From New York was a model for these morons.
Not only is this racist, it demonstrates a serious lack of understanding of Marxism, liberalism, democracy, America, and basic humanity. Did you REALLY say there are "racial differences" and "ethnic groups naturally pursue their own ethnic interests?
Rip - you okay with this?

The charges, as amended, specifically obviate intent as a factor: Second Degree Murder - Unintentional - While Committing A Felony(assault, in this case). He's still being charged with Third Degree Murder - Perpetrating Eminently Dangerous Act and Evincing Depraved Mind, and Second Degree Manslaughter - Culpable Negligence Creating Unreasonable Risk as well.
(I hope I'm doing the quotation thing correctly here.) In distinguishing between motive, which need not be proven, and intent, I was responding to what appeared to be a misunderstanding. Legally, there are "general" intent, and "specific" intent. Re; Chauvin, the prosecution need not prove specific intent -- that Chauvin intended Floyd to die. But they will prove general intent - that Chauvin intended to commit the act of compressing Floyd's neck with his knee. Because Chauvin knew, or should have known, that serious bodily injury and death can result from neck compression of of the kind Chauvin did, Chauvin is legally responsible for the consequences of that action, unless he can put forward a justification such as self-defense, reasonable use of force in making the arrest, or some other explanation.
Chauvin bears no technical burden of proof, but he will be hard-pressed to have his defense explain why, knowing Floyd had no pulse at the wrist, was becoming motionless and silent, and clearly not resisting, Chauvin continued to compress Floyd's neck for almost three more minutes. (Put aside what duty he may have had actually to render assistance.) The more difficult issue for the prosecution will be causation, since the ME reports leave room for the defense to run.
I was talking about Ray's Rules. I love them. They're tremendously important.
As for New York, Minneapolis, Los Angeles... who are we to assume that we can even stop it? Or that we SHOULD? Maybe the only way forward is to let the cities burn to the ground. Maybe people will stop posting on Facebook about "iF yOu CaRe MoRe AbOuT pRoPeRtY!!!" and take note of what wealth really is, how it is created, and what it means to destroy it. And for the 80% of Americans in the middle who have ignored their civic and personal duties to think, speak, vote and act... we're entirely at their mercy. Not Antifa. Not Donald Trump. Will Americans seize the ground of moral truth and self-sovereignty that they have ceded in their inaction, or will this finally be enough for them to reclaim it?
There is no difference between COVID-19 and the rioting. We are headed for a reckoning, and as we can observe throughout history... it's here and moving faster than we can even imagine.
Assume Chauvin's lawyer can argue that, at least initially, Chauvin was justified in compressing Floyd's neck with his knee. Where that seems to evaporate is when Chauvin is told by another officer that Floyd has no pulse at the wrist, and Chauvin can see that Floyd is motionless and is silent, and Chauvin continues to compress Floyd's neck with his knee. One is hard-pressed to imagine an innocent explanation for that action on Chauvin's part. Legally, you are responsible for the reasonably foreseeable consequences of your actions.
I agree. I don't buy into the idea that there's some grand conspiracy or a small cabal pulling levers. The present situation is just years of bad policy and poor governance coming to a head. At this point I think the only thing that's going to turn things around is some sort of major disaster. I'm starting to have a lot more respect for the doomsday prepper people. Stocking up on ammo and non-perishable food is probably a pretty good plan of action at this point.
This is hilarious. Even with a police force, the looters managed to burn down buildings and empty out a Target. Hopefully everyone with half a brain gets out of these cities as soon as they can.
