No, he was forced to sell by the MLS. It is the same sort of situation you commonly see where they tell an employee they need to resign. If they didn't resign, they would be fired anyway and their value in the labour market would drop. Likewise, if he didn't "decide" to sell the team, they would have forced him to sell and he would have had to accept a much lower price for the team.

He is a businessman first and foremost. He does what is necessary for his businesses. His mindset is typical of what people of his generation were taught their whole lives and this sort of response is what worked well for thousands of business owners in the past.

Imagine the scenario where he takes a strong stand and speaks freely:

1. He may lose over $50 million on the forced sale of the team.
2. Saying anything that anyone ever could possibly construe as mildly racist is illegal in this country if you are wealthy or own businesses. The wealthier you are or the more businesses you own, the more illegal it becomes. It can subject up a wealthy business owner to endless, expensive discrimination and harassment lawsuits.
3. The fabricated stories, fabricated lawsuits, and media character assassination would increase tremendously.

He has already done much more to stand up to the bullshit than most people, including you.

He'd have my vote right now, if I was able to vote for him, based on this speech alone.

I cannot disagree with you on this one, which is yet another reason gyms should not have been shut down over this thing. Just a casual poll here but did any gym owner (Rip included) have a member die with COVID19 since February/March?

You are still missing a very important point. The data collection procedures are completely flawed by the fact that healthcare administrators, as standard practice, will diagnose the most profitable diagnosis. Now it's not so bad that they will code someone who has a heart attack with cancer but if it's the choice between pneumonia and COVID19 they are going to list COVID19 because the reimbursement is higher. This is how medical billing works and its systemic across the US. Second, you are selectively focused on pneumonia and understandably so. What about terminal illness such as stage 4 cancer where the patient is likely do die in weeks or months? Is is fair to say the virus killed that patient? Of course not. What about cases of death by blunt force trauma such as that motorcycle accident in Florida? How many of those are in the count? What about nursing home patients that have 10+ diagnoses and are on 10+ medications, all with their own respective side effects, and have no idea who or where they are? Did the virus kill them or were they already in bad shape before this thing happened. You also mentioned people over 50 when people over 60 or 70 represent the vast majority of deaths. Are we ignoring that age is the greatest predictor of mortality? What about non-nursing home elderly who are on zero medications and otherwise healthy? Lastly, what about those who exercise and/or train? The point is that even if you left in pneumonia or ILI you are still ignoring a large chunk of the data. This still does not change the reality that based on the sketchy data that these extreme lockdowns were not justified.

That graph shows 20k excess deaths just in the week of 4/11. Most weeks since then are about 10k excess deaths per week.

They also did not radically reduce the number of deaths attributable to COVID (the "6%" issue). This has come up many times in this thread, but just because someone's death has a "contributing factor" does not mean they did not die from COVID. This is handled in most death certificates, with the specifier of "underlying cause" vs "immediate cause." Regarding this CDC says "For example, in some cases, COVID-19 may have contributed to the death, but the underlying cause of death was another cause, such as terminal cancer. For the majority of deaths where COVID-19 is reported on the death certificate (approximately 95%), COVID-19 is selected as the underlying cause of death." (from the same CDC page as that graph above).

Just so I don't make another mistake, what is the excess death count so far this year?

I'm not posting this for the sake of saying that people are racist because of the full-throated and totally unqualified support they have offered this kid. Still, I think it is important to point out that people who do bad things deserve equal protection under the law. The fact that Kyle Rittenhouse was some preternaturally violent problem kid who is likely not capable of empathy in the same way that the average person is does not mean it is perfectly fine to imprison him for legal self-defense actions. The fact that George Floyd liked getting high on his days off does not justify Chauvin's brutality.

If you believe in the rule of law, you believe it applies to cops. If not, then what exactly do you believe in?

So like I said, he didn't fight and make himself the hard out. Instead, he cowered and caved to save himself money when he's already a billionaire. Then released a statement affirming his guilt and that those going after him had the high ground. That's really taking a stand.

The bigger issue is that, despite multiple updates, this page mischaracterizes the official ICD-10-CM rules concerning confirmed cases, which we previously discussed. This isn't just sloppy webpage editing - the CDC is fundamentally confused about its own guidance. There is little reason to believe probable/confirmed deaths are being coded correctly.

COVID-19 exaggerations scared people away from treating every other disease. Evidence has been piling up since April (1, 2, 3).
