And positive tests are extremely flawed- and unrelated on their own - as a measure of the seriousness of an infectious disease.

I don’t expect MSM to surrender to this fact, but everyone reading this thread should know this as a fundamental truth.
Briggs has been harping on this for a couple weeks now. Lots of double-speak going on.

I haven't checked into any news outlets for the last several weeks. What's the current word. Are "cases" still trending up? I assumed that once school started back up there would be a catastrophic "third wave".

My brother works at a small midwestern college and they're all terrified of going back to online classes of enough kids test "positive".

The entire senior class (most of the junior class as well) in which I am a member has been put under a mandated 14-day quarantine since the last "exposure" to the ONE classmate that tested positive. The kid was asymptomatic while he was in school and socially distances on the basis that few people care to interact with him, but that is not even the best part. If one of the community members see me in public during this quarantine and notifies the state health department, I am subject to be charged with a misdemeanor. The school also mandated masks throughout the entire school day, so I promptly ordered the "Fuck You Mask" that Rip wore on the podcast; by the way, Summer is a wonderful lady, and I highly recommend doing business with her.

Apologies if this has already been posted, but Ronald Brown from University of Waterloo, says the early covid modellers fucked up by confusing the case fatality rate with the infection fatality rate. Paper

"Almost as a parenthetical afterthought, the NEJM editorial inaccurately stated that 0.1% is the
approximate case fatality rate of seasonal influenza. By contrast, the World Health Organization
(WHO) reported that 0.1% or lower is the approximate influenza infection fatality rate,"

Further elaboration on why that matters here.

Several very important things in this, most important perhaps is his point that the excess death rate "spike" in 2020 was preceded by a lower-than-average death rate the previous year, producing a "dry tinder" effect. And at 16:30, he talks about masks.
Now looking back at it, what Sweden did made/makes so much more sense. I really cannot believe we got tricked into thinking we could socially distance our way out of this virus. It laughable at its best, tyrannical at its worse.

This puts me in mind of how Astra Zeneca stopped their vaccine trials because ONE person developed a neurological problem. I could be wrong, but I seemed to understand that the trials in question had 30,000 people involved. So the trials are stopped.

It's a mere coincidence I suppose that this action took place after POTUS announced the likelihood of a vaccine near the end of October. At which point many of the dem aligned trained seals of the "science(!)" community promptly expressed reservations in lockstep with their political mistresses and masters on cue. Then, the Big Pharma involved in the "race for the cure" pledged that they would not respond to pressure. The very next day Astra Zeneca stopped it's trial just to show the Bad Orange Man who was really in charge of this pandemic.

Yet through all of this the MSM continues to ignore the growing discoveries of the efficacy of hydroxychloroquine.

Hopefully the punishment inflicted by those in authority will soon lead the sheep to realize it is their best interest not to get tested.

This is a good piece for those of you not up to speed on the "cases" problem and the policy disaster it has caused.

COVID – why terminology really, really matters | Dr. Malcolm Kendrick

A symptomless, or even mildly symptomatic positive swab is not a case. Never, in recorded history, has this been true. However, now we have an almost unquestioned acceptance that a positive swab represents a case of COVID. This is then parroted on all the news channels as if it were gospel.

I note that, at last, some people are beginning to question how it can be that, whilst cases are going up and up, deaths are going down, and down.

This is even the case in Sweden, which seems to be the final bastion of people with functioning brains. However, even they seem surprised by this dichotomy. In the first two weeks of August they had 4,152 positive swabs. Yet, in the last two weeks of August, they had a mere 14 deaths (one a day, on average).

That represents 1 death for every 300 positive swabs or, as the mainstream media insists on calling them, positive ‘cases’. Which, currently, represent a case fatality rate of 0.33%. Just to compare that with something similar, the case fatality rate of swine flu (HIN1), was 0.5%. 2

Thus, lo and behold, COVID is a less severe infection than swine flu – the pandemic that never was. That’s what these figures appear to tell us. They tell us almost exactly the same in France where they ‘appear’ to have a current case fatality rate of 0.4%.

Thank you, it really didn't make sense to me what I was reading in the news.

This is worth gold, thanks. I sent it to some fear porn believers, they did't actually change their minds, but they have something to think about now.

It is common practice to suspend (not stop) a trial when an adverse reaction presents itself. They investigate and determine its relationship to the trial. If there is none, the trial resumes.
