You get down to the bottom, and here's the problem with this piece:

Covid-19 stands out for both the scale of its global impact and the apparent randomness of its many symptoms. Physicians have struggled to understand the disease and come up with a unified theory for how it works. Though as of yet unproven, the bradykinin hypothesis provides such a theory. And like all good hypotheses, it also provides specific, testable predictions — in this case, actual drugs that could provide relief to real patients.
Global impact? The net effect of this is merely fear porn, speculation about the deadly mechanisms of a disease that has been no more deadly than a slightly bad seasonal flu, but for fear of which we are all still pretending that wearing a mask keeps us from getting sick.

So let's lighten up your day. Just put this on repeat and enjoy it: https://twitter.com/i/status/1307362054861393923

    We have a choice:

    • Starve the enemy by shutting down the entire economy. We starve ourselves too, but the enemy dies... Until enemy reinforcements come.

Give the troops who signed up for the task the equipment and supplies needed to do their jobs and let them go to work.

It's rare in battle when destroying your own empire to fight an enemy is seen as a logically sound idea.
This is a pretty good analogy.

Everything in there screams satire. It's so stupid and self-unaware I have to believe it's a joke.

In a general sense, sure. But in a specific sense, the analogy would be stronger if the situation was a new “cancer”, one with very little data.

At least with chemo we can somewhat reliably predict what will happen when we accept that treatment protocol. The world simply opted for self-destruction without even asking what the side effects would be.

It would be 5-10 years ago. Now the fact that I can't tell if it's satire makes me sad.
