The corporate media's coverage of the destruction, whether biased towards the conservative right or the progressive left, has blamed white "Antifa" political activists, or bizarrely "white supremacists", as guilty of instigating and perpetuating the robbery and violence during the otherwise "peaceful protests". They do not want to touch upon the idea that the violence being perpetrated by black people is motivated by any sort of racial and political ideology of their own, and the right cannot admit these people have their own agency, or group interests, either.

The left tells us they can explain away the disparities between the races within the prism of its Marxist "victim" and "oppressor" narrative. They tell us the black people are simply the victims of systemic racism, and all of the European traditions, values and ideals responsible for the creation of America are, in fact, just an expression of white supremacy. Therefore, on these grounds, the riots are ethically justified. The conservative right has been powerless to counter this idea because of its own liberal framework.

Within a liberal, egalitarian society, the left is free to forcefully make their subversive Marxist arguments and pursue its own agenda guilt-free. Meanwhile, the right is forced to back itself into a corner, sit on its hands, and repeat, ad nauseum, that biological, racial differences simply do not meaningfully exist in a liberal, egalitarian society, like America, therefore they have "won" the logical argument by being more rational.

America isn't currently on fire because of Marxism, or Antifa, or the left, but it is on fire because America's own liberal ontology is based on the lie of egalitarianism. Biological reality is visiting us. America does not know how to deal with this lie within the liberal paradigm. Whatever harsh methods the state should implement to restore law and order and to prevent its own cities from burning to the ground are strictly off-limits because they would be inherently illiberal. For decades, the left has enjoyed the freedom to paint the black, downtrodden protesters as oppressed victims, therefore, to act illiberally now against these people, to preserve the country, would break the very idea of "America".

When I want to present my political views, I am constantly required to enter into a difficult dialogue about the holy trinity of ultimate European (read: white) evil: the holocaust, colonialism and slavery. This white guilt, they regularly remind me, can never be cleansed from my soul. Even if I try to atone by complying with the latest humiliating act du jour - such as the trending #takeaknee gesture. Even if I actively work against my own ethnic group's interests and start welcoming migrants at the border. Even if I publicly reject and denounce my own national identity.

Ultimately, in a liberal society, I will never be allowed to advocate for my own group interests. This is because if the liberal system was forced to admit that racial differences actually existed in the first place, and in the real world different ethnic groups naturally pursue their own ethnic group interests as an evolutionary strategy, then their whole ideological superstructure comes crumbling down.

Does the conservative right's obsession with upholding values of "liberal democracy" and egalitarianism, seemingly above all else, make a country more open to subversion? Can a political party counter the left's ideas, or conserve anything at all, under a framework of liberal egalitarianism? At this point it seems impossible to view America as anything other than a cautionary tale.

Here's my guess: a scientist is going to claim "something" got into the global oil supply, and every combustion engine on Earth has been outputting deadly toxic chemicals into the air, resulting in poisonous rain around the world. Direct contact with the rain (or snow) is obviously bad, but it also gets into the global water supply. The symptoms of this poison include death among the elderly, and restlessness among young boys. The solution is to shutter all drilling, refineries, and to ban the operation of combustion engines of any size. And since all water is poisoned we'd need to report to special municipal water stations for drinking water and to bathe. The blame for this crisis, of course, lies with President Trump. Somehow.

There may actually be some basis to this. In times past, I have posted here that if you look at most of the blue counties, they are located along major bodies of water, being rivers, lake, and the oceans. The water treatment process or underlying components of the water seems to have affected the minds of the voting populace, and not for the better.

That said, the fact that I can say, with evidence, that this was a rather standard protocol used by MPD to detain people, means it's plausible that he had no intention to kill him. That's all that is required. Reasonable doubt. It exists because this was part of the SOP.

This entire article is worth reading. In it, Chauvin's background and other side jobs strike me as being like Sheriff Behan in Tombstone said of himself. "A man of many parts" as he rattles off his own CV and side jobs.

I do disagree with you about the other cops though. Unless the department included sitting on the rest of the body as part of the training, those guys (again, IMO) are the ones who primarily killed Floyd, and they were out of policy.

I think that Corona wasn't going very well, the big L Left realized that most of their scare tactics were no longer working and their politicians were too slow to open up given how mild Covid-19 ended up compared to predictions. They wrecked the economy.... Uh OH... it backfired in an election year.... Not that COVID-19 wasn't real, it was worse than the flu and should be taken seriously, but we were just at the point where people were fed up with the "red/yellow/green" rollouts and the unfair persecution of small businesses... something had to be done quick to get everyone's mind off of it.. Murder hornets didn't work, U.S. beekeepers it turns out are smart people and squashed that with rebuttals almost instantly.

Then a bad cop who happens to be white kills a man who happens to be black through inappropriate use of force and it's the perfect story to shift to the next pandemic: Systematic racism in America by cops.

People are cooped up, 20 something year old kids who grew up without male role models and lack of direction are frustrated, the people in the "hood" are frustrated, people who were born with opportunities other people don't have because of their parent's work feel guilty and are frustrated, everyone is frustrated, perfect time to go to a demonstration and get involved with something to provide you with self worth, The world is messed up bro, we need "change", lets get involved... the idea of it is intoxicating. But not everyone in that peaceful demonstration has the same ideas of what a good time is and for some of them, to quote the popular sublime song 1992, "It's about coming up and staying on top, it's about 187 on a Mother F#$%ing Cop"... "Perfect!" Soros thinks, chaos again. Even more perfect...the cops involve get acquitted and it's round 2.... either way racial relations are set back 40 years, which fits the divide and conquer model nicely.

Once again however, I predict most people will soon realize once the riots / protesting calms down that there may be some, but there is not general systematic racism between cops and criminals in our country anymore. There are simply bad employee's everywhere and non-perfect people everywhere, and cops DO provide some useful purpose by serving to buffer criminal elements of our society. Ending the implementation of racism on all levels is a noble cause and I fully support it, nobody chooses what color they are born or where they are born or who they are born to, all we can do is live our lives, and nobody should be judged for things they can not control...but... we should be judged for things we CAN control, and if you are an inner-city thug or a cop or a wealthy white media conglomerate owner you should be held responsible for your actions. The big question is why RIGHT NOW... because, a certain group needed chaos and shiny things to distract everyone from what they did.

My prediction is that something happens next, could be global warming or some kind of environmental disaster, maybe COVID-20, Islamist extremism (Notice how quickly the attack on our base went away), something that brings the left together will be the next hot issue immediately following the current pandemic.

I'm not anti-democrat, I have some good democrat friends with good hearts, but I think the left is agitating and being agitated because they are not in office and those that want power find them convenient pawns.

If Republicans win 2020 they may get a shot at replacing Ginsburg.

Legal intent is distinct from motive, which need not be proven. Chauvin intentionally compressed Floyd’s neck with his knee, knowing, given all the circumstances, the potential consequence could be death. The prosecution need not prove Chauvin wanted Floyd to die, but only that it was a reasonably foreseeable consequence.

For argument’s sake, give Chauvin the benefit of the doubt to the point he’s told Floyd has no pulse at the wrist, and he sees Floyd is motionless, and is silent. One is hard-pressed to conjure an innocent explanation for Chauvin continuing to compress Floyd’s neck in that position for nearly three minutes.

If you think about it. The economy has been weakened by successive Government policies. The result of locking entire economies down was inevitably riots and chaos.

Rather than some organised coup, isn’t it really just a lot of bad ideas promoted by intellectual and carried out by the Government leading to societal collapse ?

The Government education system on its own is responsible for most of it. They keep recycling bad ideas, inculcating children with the idea that they are victims, that reason is hopeless, that they should stop thinking and emote. The pupils become the teachers and the whole thing keeps rolling along like a passenger liner headed for an iceberg. Someone always thinks there is a guy at the wheelhouse and a lookout in charge of spotting danger, but in reality it’s not being steered at all. Only when the passengers find themselves facing drowning in icy water do they begin fighting over the life boats. They no longer know if it’s the best thing to do, only that it’s some thing to do and with reason having vacated their minds, it comes down to clubs and fists.

The towns and small cities in my area have had protests and I got wondering about what percent of the people are participating. Rough numbers indicate less then 2% for some, less then 1% for most.
Which just shows how true is the adage: The squeaky wheel gets the grease. Of course there's also The nail that sticks up gets hammered down.

I think you are conflating motive with intent. Chauvin’s subjective motive may never be known, and it need not be proven. It also need not be proven that Chauvin intended Floyd to die, but only that he intended to commit the act he did, knowing it could result in death.

Chauvin intentionally compressed Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes while Floyd was rear-handcuffed, prone, saying he could not breathe, and eventually displaying the physical manifestations of dying—no pulse, dissipating movement, and eventual silence. Legal intent is easily inferred from those facts.

Apparently darrow is an attorney in addition to an infectious disease specialist.

The charges, as amended, specifically obviate intent as a factor: Second Degree Murder - Unintentional - While Committing A Felony(assault, in this case). He's still being charged with Third Degree Murder - Perpetrating Eminently Dangerous Act and Evincing Depraved Mind, and Second Degree Manslaughter - Culpable Negligence Creating Unreasonable Risk as well.

There is no need to prove intent in this case. Full disclosure, I am not a lawyer (but I work with lawyers) so my opinion isn't worth much.

Side note, other video angles show that in addition to Chauvin's knee on Floyd's neck, another officer had a knee in his back while a third held his legs down. Both the ME's report and the independent autopsy, while they disagree on some points, agree that the knee in the back was a significant factor in his death.
