The WPA was not entirely real employment. It was quite a bit like the current printed-out-of-thin-air $600 payments for sitting on your ass with a lot of digging a hole and filling it back up thrown in to ease the primitive sensibilities of better people 100 years ago. They built a few things, some of which needed building but lots of which did not. But the government "borrowed" money and gave it to people, and there was a smell attached to it even then. You like that smell, don't you?

And we're still waiting for your definition of "right-wing," since myself and Cuomo are apparently both guilty.

Today's fear propaganda: First dog in the U.S. dies from COVID-19. Here's what you need to know about pets and coronavirus spread - AOL Lifestyle

Bloodwork suggested that Buddy may have suffered from lymphoma, cancer that develops in the lymph nodes, and it’s unclear whether the virus played a leading role in his death.
Note the language of the headline. These people are absolutely relentless, and now our dogs are being employed in the fight for control of our behavior.

And you poor bastards in Australia might as well be in jail: Victoria announces stage four coronavirus lockdown restrictions including overnight curfew | Melbourne | The Guardian

The entire country has had 221 deaths from the deadly SARS-Covid-2 pandemic virus currently erasing all human life from the surface of the Earth, out of a population of 25,640,500 people, for a total of 0.0086% of the population -- a pretty good start, I suppose.

If it took this long for a dog to die from it, I'm not particularly worried about dogs being in danger. Maybe I'm just one of those damned irresponsible science-deniers.

This is a bizarre criticism to make in the 21st century, because we're living in a world where a huge percentage of jobs are about as necessary as digging and re-filling pits. Have "Human Resource departments" made their way to North Texas yet?

In the setting of an economic policy discussion, a right-wing person is one with a high tolerance for wealth inequality.

Okay. Now I get to define Socialism: A system in which the most useless piles of shit on earth manage to rise to positions of power, having displayed no skills other than those typical of sociopathy, i.e. the ability to lie with absolute conviction about anything necessary to achieve their own personal agendas. This ignores several important economic criteria, but it includes Cuomo and Whitmer, and leaves me out, so I prefer it over yours. We'll go with mine.

This is a bizarre criticism given that it's largely accurate, both in theme and specifics.

In your utopia, what would be an ideal level of wealth equality? How would you define and measure it?

Would you say the richest person is allowed to be say 100x richer than the person who has no ability to produce anything at all? Someone who must be completely provided for.

Whether it is 20x, 100x, or whatever, how do you measure that?

    …how old are you?
What is it with you Leftists and the loaded questions?

No, you fool, they were people who wanted jobs to feed themselves and their families. This is how fascism begins, by preying on desperation and fear and offering a "free" solution. Sophisticated, yes? This is not people supporting socialist policies; this is people trying to survive. Your prior argument that people support these policies during times of economic desperation is not validated here.

Government intervention in such matters is unnecessary and if anything only postpones the situation's natural response. The problem is the government's response to economic crises is always short lived because - and this is important - a government only gets its money from the people.

Who pays for these spectacular programs? Why, the people not employed by them obviously, through their increased taxes or through the loss of the value of their currency as the government decides to pay more people to do needless work rather than paying off debt it already holds from having done that before.

This is the irony in how it seems to be the affluent who love socialism. And by affluent, I don't necessarily mean wealthy. There's wealth from hard work and shrewd investment, and then there's getting sent to an expensive private school to major in Political Philosophy while you sip on Starbucks for 6 hours out of the day. To which do you think I am referring?
