My generation is unfortunately the generation of "give me that for free."

You people are such tiresome parasites. I wish there was the equivalent of Ivermectin for socialists.

But you want the Government to do the adjusting downward. I am not particularly impressed with your grasp of the issue, or your intelligence.

You aren't particularly impressed, but you're still, like, a little bit impressed at least, right???

and if you care, I think there is a difference between democratically elected representatives and those who wield power only because they were born under fortunate circumstances. You have made it clear that you do not agree with this, but there it is, that's my response.

I beg you to consider the possibility that the "all governments are the same--evil!" schtick is at odds with the historical record.

I got an idea: How about you stop typing this quasi-intellectual gibberish, and tell us what you want the government to do. You know, actually say something.

A lot of the info I'm receiving is from my Mom, who is getting it from my Dad, who is getting it from the hospital and my nearby Aunt. So, there's a decent chance I don't have the details correct, but that's what has been relayed to me. God help them if my details are 100% accurate.

Now that I've had a chance for my blinding rage to settle down, I think the thing that enrages me is the overwhelming stupidity induced by nothing but overwhelming fear. The hysteria that a 93 year old man could be a (barely) walking biohazard, seems to have literally been a self-fulfilling prophecy. It's as though they said, "Well, if he doesn't have COVID-19, let's give it to him to be sure!"

The same kind of logic was dutifully applied at the Salem Witch Trials if I'm not mistaken.

There are a few things I want the government to do. Here are four:

    1. Effect a free-at-the-point-of-use healthcare system in the mold of those that are beloved by the populations of Europe. This could easily be funded in any number of ways, but a wealth tax is my favorite. Don't worry, Rip, you'll still get to look down at folks who aren't as mercantile as you. They'll just have basic dignities while you do it, in keeping with the western values of compassion and duty to community. A UBI is essential as well, as was recognized by Friedman and Hayek.

    2. Put an immediate moratorium on immigration for the sake of preventing the kind of demographic shift that has already erected a scaffold for the strong, cohesive white culture from which we have all benefited so very much. This is not not just poor mexicans--ALL immigration, including indians and chinamen that are responsible for the profound demographic shift in places like silicon valley. If you are based in America, your programmers, engineers and coterie of top managers are American, Zuckerberg. Period. No deals. We may need to adjust demographics more directly in the future, but for now the best we can do is stay the execution.

    3. Actually enforce existing labor laws, which would make it illegal for employees to refuse to hire architects because they didn't pass sociology. Basically, college as an institution needs to be effectively destroyed. The villanous, exploitative business community are the only ones that benefit from the status quo. Milton: "The most obvious social cost," Friedman wrote in Capitalism and Freedom about occupational registration, certification, and licensure, "is that any one of these measures...almost inevitably becomes a tool in the hands of a special producer group to obtain a monopoly position at the expense of the rest of the public."

    4. Prosecute Bush/Cheney/Rumsfeld/Rove for the war crimes they carried out in North Africa, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of U.S. soldiers and millions of Iraqi's. Never, ever, EVER fight a war on behalf of an oil company again.

I don't care how mean you are when you type it, but I would be delighted to hear what your actual objections are to any one of these commonsense and extremely popular policy proposals.

In May and early June, 44% seroprevalence among urgent care patients in Brooklyn NY. Roughly 8% reported notable symptoms.

In some places, it is conceivable that half of all deaths are accompanied by a positive test.

Well, it finally happened. After so much of the initial hysteria looked to have settled down too.

Today was deadlifts at the Southern Illinois University Rec Center. I forgot my chalk and saw this guy bench pressing with a small zip bag on the floor by him. His flowing gray locks were pulled into a shoulder blade length pony tail and he looked to be in his 50's. It seemed unlikely he'd have any chalk, but I approached him from a distance and asked him if he had any chalk I could borrow. Nope.

So OK, thanks, and off to deadlift. I managed all my singles without chalk happily. He kept watching me, off and on, but then I'm used to that. No one expects to see a geezer deadlifting 325 for singles, especially in the Rec.

Next up was dips. At that point Mr. Ponytail was using the cable crossover in the general proximity of the dip bars. Since I hardly ever want to come between someone and their adoration of themselves in the mirror, I crossed over behind him to get the dip belt. I made the critical error of crossing in front of him with it, since it looked like he was completing his last reps. As I chained up a 45 plate to the belt, he called out, "You need to keep your distance from me!"

I was pretty surprised by that and said "Hey, I'm at least 6 feet from you." He went on at length about me crowding him and I needed to keep back. He moved toward me a step or so during his tirade. I stepped back and told him I was 9 feet from him. I moved to one side and paced off the distance. He didn't like that either, and said I wasn't following the rules. Since he was masked up from his collarbones to the bridge of his nose in one of those turtleneck looking gaiters, I figured he must be referring to my not wearing a mask.

The Rec does not require a mask during exercise. I informed him of that rule and said that since my heart rate was still pounding along at 130 bpm from the deadlifts, I was not about to have one on with any attendant CO2 buildup.

He said he was going to talk to a manager. "Good idea, you weasly tattletale. Let's both go, I want to complain about your aggressive attitude!" The kids working the desk started laughing when Mr. Ponytail came up to whine. I told them he wasn't joking and neither was I. After listening to him lie about how I started yelling at him and crowding him, I told the kids my name and where I'd be doing dips. "You can listen to him tattle while I keep lifting."

As I was finishing my dips one of the young desk ladies asked me for my side of the story, which I related. She said not to worry, but she had to write a report because of his complaint. No problem. Contact me if you need me later.

I finally got confronted by a mask nazi. What a day.
You've far more patience than I. I would have called him a faggot and told him to STFU. But then, I wouldn't last 5 minutes in one of these post-Covid incarnations of a gym.

Though it should be pointed out that even pre-Covid gyms have always been riddled with guys suffering from inferiority complexes. Sounds like that's what your guy was infected with, along with a dollop of terminal feminization.
