I hate to say this, and want to be wrong..... But the man is untouchable. And he knows this and will abuse this for as long as he can.

And he will take this to the bank. Like I said earlier, Fauci was/is a very smart scientist, but even scientists can be corrupted by power and fame. He’s now no longer a scientist. He’s a politician.

Serious question: what leads you to say he was a "very smart scientist"? All I see is a 35-year history of fuckups.

It's just what they have to say to justify their actions and emotional investment of the past 7 months.
I could live with that. But they also have to make you the enemy for pointing out the mistakes. And "they" include politicians who still follow their herd instinct instead of their duty and still try to eliminate this virus with restrictions:

He made the assessment as he announced closures of non-essential businesses for "at least 14 days" in areas of the city starting on Thursday. The rules affect hundreds of thousands of residents.

De Blasio also announced increased fines for non-compliance of COVID-19 rules.

"We understand the frustrations people are feeling," de Blasio said.
There you have it, it's the same all over the world. "We all have to work together" means, if you're not following orders, you're a Covid terrorist and want someone's granny to die. So the fines increase, in order to make you see the error of your ways, and how serious this (virus?) is.
"at least 14 days" has been heard for 7 months now, and the fucking curve has been hammered flat a long time ago.

One a completely different note, if you need a chuckle, check out Master Ken on youtube. He has the comedy channel Enter the Dojo and makes fun of Martial Arts, and has posted a couple of videos about "self defense against the corona virus" and "alternative career options for MA instructors" (during the pandemic). Some is very silly, but some is very on point.

Intelligence can be hindered by personality, much like athletic talent can be hindered by stupidity.

The bullshit has finally arrived in my hometown. It's amazing that no one is mowing these rioters down in the street.

I'd be willing to bet that he got great grades in school. I'd also be willing to bet that he has vast amounts of knowledge in his brain. So, I am sure he is smart.

How he applies this knowledge is another story.

Rip, johnst_nnb: I'm extremely curious to learn more about Fauci's failings in the past that you guys keep alluding to.

In my circle of friends, he's the patron saint of Scientific Truth. They fail to see that NIH administrators are...just that: "administrators" i.e. bureaucrats beholden to the system, not necessarily to truth or public benefit. However, aside from his pontifications on the pandemic, I don't know much about him. Why was he so corrupt/fraudulent?
