And public healthy officials wonder from where all the apathy comes and why people like me don’t take them seriously.

Well, here I was thinking if I ever got to the States I was going to drive around down where you folks are and head over the state line to Santa Fe and try the sopapillas and green chile burgers, I guess that would be a no?

Well, strength trainer and chef, interesting combination. I could not cook my way out of a paper bag, that is why I got married you see Mark, costly, but at least I got fed. Well in that case would it be stretching the friendship to add some of that Chicken Fried Steak you folk(s) talk about to the menu?

New Mexico is great place to visit (especially if you're coming from Europe). They were also home of the Libertarian candidate for president for 8 years of so. The state has no water and few natural resources, hence the lack of economy. The mountains and food are great. Texans are often jealous of NM's mountains. There's maybe a million people in the whole state, which is the size of Poland.

I wouldn't bother with the excitement. Unless you're a qanon guy, then I guess it's all just fantasy role playing anyways.

    Quote from Tucker Carlson:

"When we checked with others around the Trump campaign, people in positions of authority, they told us Powell has never given them any evidence either, nor did she provide any today at the press conference."

The case rate is actually rising. There is increased testing, which picks up a bunch of "asymptomatic cases", but we are seeing a rise in hospitalizations across Europe. I think this is the actual pandemic wave, the March-April thing had hardly hit most of the contintent. However, the data seems to be showing that the pandemic is significantly different from the models, the wave reaches an inflection point and crashes much, much sooner than the models had predicted. Kind of like our common sense approach has been saying all along, but now we are getting actual data to corroborate this.

It seems to have something to do with the weather, the Czech Republic crashed at cases 22.000/million, Belgium at 33.000/million, but some hard hit areas in Croatia are now at close to 37.000/million and still rising. Deaths in the UK are on a downward trajectory, so there is a good chance that the wave is crashing there too, but I haven't looked at the data. My guess is that the entire wave will crash before vaccines are introduced, but governments will attribute this to lockdowns. They will however have a problem with data from countries with no lockdowns, which are abundant in Europe now. Life is returning to normal by spring, but it's important to follow cases as a percentage of tests, hospitalizations, severe outcomes and deaths now, as data that is being collected will probably be used to wreak havoc among the lockdown community in 2021 and 2022.

You don't have to 'like' the the idea of UBI. You can say that UBI is utopian thinking, and against "human nature", but while UBI is not a panacea for all the problems in Western civilization, this degree socialism already exists in America today. The only ones missing out on this free shit are principled dumbasses like you and me. The US already prints money into existence and dishes it out to minorities and criminals on Wall St. while people like you and me will scoff at 'socialism', and pontificate about the virtues of Austrian economics, and continue to scrape by each month with our stagnant wages while the 1% get richer with stock buybacks and tax cuts.

I wonder if Wall. St enjoyed Trump's $4.2 trillion stimulus gift while you were locked down and wondering about your future prospects? We could ask where the $32 billion to Saudi Arabia came from? You know exactly where it always comes from. They're gonna print it - just like they always do. As long as there is fear of, and a certain amount of confidence in, the US government - they're going to continue to print it until the very end. Our people deserve a chance to pay their bills and not starve while this happens.

While a universal payment $1000-$2000 a month may not allow everyone buy a yacht, it would certainly help you make rent, or car payment, or allow your wife to stay home more and be a better mother. Fuck, we could use it to start a nationalistic political movement which could offer a real alternative to this current fake left/right paradigm.

One thing is for sure - we absolutely cannot continue to go in this current direction any more. We're not talking about what is ideal - we're talking about the theatre of the possible right now. The "best possible outcome", as you describe in creating an ideal economic environment, doesn't exist. This is the reality we're in whether you like it or not, and it's only going to get worse with more offshoring of jobs and automation and AI. The Republicans (Trump included) have no answer to these concerns, because they simply don't give a flying fuck. They care about Big Business.

Of course normal, working class Americans are desperate. That's why the voted for a wildcard like Trump in the first place. They have been made to be this way and no amount of Bootstrap-ism, "personal responsibility" or waking up at 4:45 like Jocko Willink and GETTING AFTER IT is going to get them out of the economic hell they're living in. These vanished jobs have been offshored and they will never come back. They didn't come back after Trump, and they won't come back after 4 more years of Trump. How are the Republicans going to take care of people who live in areas where there used to be auto manufacturing? What is your plan for your countrymen who are suffering and currently get nothing while others fill their pockets? Get a job at McDonalds? Onlyfans? Suicide?

If the only function UBI serves is to get people away from Bootstrap-ism, then it would be a win. You want to talk about what's against human nature? Bootstrap, conservative economic thinking because every society that ever existed was full of people who shared what they had with their ethnic kith and kin (and obviously not with random members of competing foreign tribes), provided for each other, ensured everyone was accounted for... and if they failed to do that, they didn't survive.

That useless sack of shit Boris and his two dim witted advisors Whitty and Vallance are on again tomorrow no doubt telling us TEN MILLION PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE unless we surrender more of our basic freedoms.

They’re talking about ‘allowing us’ to spend XMas with our families... How kind of them.

Wow! Just poublished, in Nature no less: Asymptomatic spread is not a thing. Our lockdowns of the healthy were largely for nothing, except to destroy societal health.
The Chinese KNOW, and now WE do too
So 2019 WHO guidelines were correct: no asymptomatic quarentine recommended🤨
