What I did and said at the time was that the cop followed the same training that cops have been getting since the 70's when they were facing a threat of a potentially armed suspect. As it happened,
it turned out later that the drunk exterminator had been flashing a pellet gun out of the window of his hotel room overlooking a swimming pool. The gun didn't appear in the video and was not on the suspect's person. The suspect repeatedly disregarded the instructions he got from the cop who shot him. What I didn't say at the time was that the fact that although the cop followed the training, it turned out to be a bad shoot.
