It's almost like we're starting to just enjoy these actions, like the Capitol ruckus $GME short squeeze, as entertainment. Like the Joker setting fire to a huge pile of cash.
    Matt,

I was a born anti-populist. From a young age I’ve always had schadenfreude for the downfall of populist movements or organizations. Anything that bucks the establishment, goes against the grain, disrupts the status quo or creates a certain amount of anarchy hits a sweet spot for me. Perhaps that’s why Starting Strength appealed to me? It does many of those things.

I have always been suspicious of populism. It is a form of absolute power that corrupts absolutely. We saw this with the Boy Scouts, the Catholic Church, the people involved in the #MeToo movement (though I do have some reservations on that), policing, Wall St., COVID-19, and many other modern day current affairs.

I think it is almost always good to burn a little bit of civilization down to move it forward. I am not advocating for violence, but simply, to use the same rules everyone else takes advantage of to point out the gaping holes in society. What made $GME so attractive was the ability to completely fuck massively evil hedge funds over using the same rules they always have - from the comfort of one’s phone.

No Molotov cocktails were required. No beheadings needed to happen. No hippies were shitting outside their tents on Wall St. This was simply playing the same unfair game against the game proprietors themselves. In my opinion, when this happens, there is no better message that could be sent. Violent overthrows are always messy, uncivilized and dirty. A silent, cunning and legal (I don’t know if anything illegal happened), battle always is better.

COVID-19 is the way governments of the world are playing this game. Not a single bomb was dropped and the world was destroyed. They’re just “playing by the rules” to the detriment of the planet.

So, yes.... I sympathize with the Joker from time to time. Burn the stacks of cash and watch the fat cats cry. Most of life, you’re the bug. It feels great to be the windshield if even for a short time.

You go to a few car crashes and see broken bodies of people splattered around or go to a few domestics where children have been killed it gets to you eventually and it hardens you up, so you need to give your coppers a bit of a break. Your father as a correctional officer would have seen the worst that humans turn into so you should give him a break also.
You are barking up the wrong tree. I have never said anything even close to there being no good cops or all of them being assholes.

But you are 100% wrong about cops needing a break. They are given a vast amount of power and therefore deserve more scrutiny than most other fields. You're not gonna get shot by an asshole in too many other jobs...at least not in the name of doing their job.

Cop should be under massive scrutiny and receive harsh punishments when the abuse their power. The ones who cannot accept the terms are not fit for the job.

Personally, I don’t. Yes there are shenanigans, cheaters who don’t get caught, manipulators who bend the rules to their advantage. But by and large the system is accessible and generally beneficial to anyone who takes a bit of time to educate themselves and build a disciplined approach to long-term savings.

Cheating how? By knowing your actions affect the market? By telling friends theirs will too?

That is literally what successful investment firms do for clients.

    Exactly.

Sad to have been outside the loop on this until the memes came out.

These fucks only want regulation when they are losing. Free market gains and socialized loses. Every fucking time.

Still pisses me off how all the banks that didn't act like casinos filled with use car salesmen basically got robbed of their rewards for doing good business when the too big to fail-ers got their bailouts from W and then again from Barry.

Suuuure the games not rigged at all, folks. Ignore that man behind the curtain.

Since your claim is “consistently”, it should not be difficult.
Who cares about some BS fundamentals? And who gets to decide who's fundamentals are good enough to invest in? Do they get to tell us how much we can buy too.

The folks pumping this up have every right to throw their money away if that is what they are doing.

Or maybe they are looking to take a hit to crush their competition (only an idiot thinks that the buyers were only Reddit dorks). If Home Depot and Walmart can take loses until all the mom and pops have to close then too fucking bad for these clowns.

And buy the stock changes the fundamentals anyway. It, at the very least, gives them breathing room to possible reposition themselves.

    Sounds like election fraud too.

GME was shorted into oblivion, to a degree that shouldn't even be legal (shorting more shares than even exist? What the fuck?).
    Exactly.

How do you possibly get to essentially sell the same product to two people, fail to deliver, and not get punished with at least never being allowed to do business again?

Hedge funds, stock market? Come you lot, everybody knows that land is always a good investment. Here in Aus we have a huge vacant dirt bowl in the centre and if politicians had any vision these days we could have built dams and store all that water from the north and built hydo and irrigation schemes instead of letting it run into the ocean, we could have drought proofed Australia and valued added to the country.

Now because of the new green deal you folk and John Kerry are hatching they want to build solar and wind farms here and they are going to pour Billions into unreliable energy generation. Real investment needs reliable base load generation, plenty of water and land, we could have it here if only these new think politicians had guts, but they don't because they are "green". Green investment is a fairy tale on speed.

So, silver has gone up 10% this morning, and many bullion retailers in Europe have had to stop selling. They're saying they didn't experience this kind of demand for physical even in 2011 when the price was $50/oz.

The lads on Wall St. Bets still saying $SLV is a coordinated distraction to pull attention away from $GME.

Max Keiser's saying: Silver is probably the most shorted, (using naked-shorts) security/PM in the world. The “Crash JP Morgan, Buy Silver” campaign of 2010 drove the price from $15 to $50 (without Robinhood). #WSB/Reddit crowd could probably realize a 15x with a short-squeeze now

I'm not sure what to make of it all, but it does seem as if people, like the Wall St. Bets guys, are one step away from discovering Bitcoin. In fact, if the theory is true that this was all a big trap designed to bring in more regulatory clampdowns and consolidate power even further, then that would be the best case for Bitcoin. Something has got to change.

Apparently, when the cops tell you to get back in your house, you must meekly respond. Apparently when the cops tell you to be quiet, if you don't obey they mace you. Even if you're nine.

I'm glad Dr. Ioannidis is seemingly coming out of that black list they tried to put him in early last year. If there is ANYONE we should be listening to, it's him.

Dude, in today's world, hedge funds are like the conquistadors of old. The only difference is that these bastards frequently turn on their own guys. Your animosity towards the WSB folks was due to a structured effort by the media machine which is in bed with the hedge fund guys.

If I remember correctly, tesla producing vents was at the very beginning of the outbreak in the states when we were told there was a massive shortage and we need to “flatten the curve” because of said massive shortage.
