In about two weeks from that post, your excess deaths peaked way above the normal rate of death....about +20% so.
Quite the event, looking and the historical averages and previous highs and low range there.
Note I'm not saying C19-deaths (can't say they filling out death certificates wrong or something like that).

I'm not pro-lockdown, or even about trying to "Save" all these lives.
But its fun to go through this thread and see where people were dismissing it as the flu, and/or a hoax .... back when there was 500 or 5000 deaths, and people were saying that was insignificant and those numbers were nothing.
I don't care. It's trivial. It always has been trivial relative to the destroyed world's economy. And it includes suicides, undiagnosed cancers, untreated Type-II, and countless other morbidities due to the government response to this hoax that your bullshit observation has omitted.

With regards to the wind turbine thing.

Yeah, wind turbines are a joke really ... long term.
But that picture circulating is from 2014, and from Sweden, and has nothing to with Texas's current grid problems.
That's a VERY important catch, Fulcrum, you fucking cunt. Did he claim it was a current picture? Is the date relevant? The point is that they had to be de-iced in order to function. But we're all freezing to death because of this particular boondoggle, where Pickens and his buddies get richer on the backs of shivering old people -- same cunts that made billions off the COVID charade. Old people in Texas are dying RIGHT NOW, not from a version of the flu but from government incompetence and corruption, and all you can do is chirp about the date on a goddamn picture that perfectly illustrates the motherfucking goddamn problem?

What's wrong with this one, you fucking cunt?

See the problem with this, you fucking cunt?

Throwing rocks from behind your anonymous account has finally gotten your posting privileges suspended, so you can brag to your fellow-cunt buddies that you finally pissed me off bad enough to earn your stripes on the Cunt Boards. Now your a Big Boy, right? A Lieutenant Cunt.

    Now, this is really funny:

The weather forecast is blatantly incorrect, but the climate forecast is so rock-solid that we must build wind turbines that don't work when the weather forecast is incorrect.

When KNOWN treatments and even prophylaxis are PURPOSEFULLY withheld from people...especially older, sickly people...they have a much higher chance of death.

And let's not forget about the forced "catch parties" thrown at our skilled nursing facilities....think Cuomo and 4 other governors.

No different from many other treatable illnesses out there. If you refuse to treat, people die.

For the vast majority of people, it is even less than the flu. It is absolutely worth dismissing. I tested positive for COVID last month, and the only symptom I had was a loss of smell for a couple of days. The overreaction to this non-issue has been a hoax. Again, my position has still not changed.

But isn't this how a deregulated economy works? Corporations bet on not building safeguards in order to make more money. The photo of Sweden seems to indicate turbines run perfectly well in the cold, if you do it right. In the absence of regulation, a deregulated system works by people suing for relief. That won't help anybody now, but may in the future. But Pickens and his buddies probably bet that the cost of legal troubles will still be much smaller than the profit they make by not building the safeguards. It's the same as the City of Houston not investing your tax dollars on a fleet of snowplows and road salt. That would be a money loser, given the rarity in Houston of the current weather. That's a "spirit of deregulation" that's been growing ever since Reagan, and probably before. Pickens wouldn't like your socialist attempt to take away his liberty and freedom to make millions.

And, by the way, are you saying the freezing old folks of TX are to be saved while the old folks dying of Covid are just collateral damage? Will someone start arguing the old folks didn't actually die of the cold, but of existing medical preconditions the cold may have amplified a bit? (Because 99.9% of people who get cold don't die). I'm confused, because you just said something to the effect at the beginning of your comments. "It always has been trivial relative to the destroyed world's economy." I'd guess Pickens would see your complaint as trivial to his happy version of "economic freedom."

Sad. In my earlier days coming of age out West, the men I knew would never be heard uttering such vulgarity. The ranchers and farmers of my acquaintance took pride in never showing such a juvenile lack of self-control, or demonstrating so publicly such a filthy mouth. And this word, the "C-word," especially. To use it to insult a man you do not like is to insult women just as much, by suggesting that their qualities - physical and spiritual - are to be seen as negative, even loathsome. As one old fellow I knew long ago would have said, "Time now to grow up, son."

What makes you think this is a "deregulated economy"? And there is a big difference between having a vagina and being a cunt. Study the language, while you go get fucked.

I doubt anyone here is going to argue this. It's self-evident. The people dying from COVID-19 are overwhelmingly those with pre-existing conditions and 99.9%+ of people who get COVID-19 don't die. There's nothing to argue. It's right in the data that's readily available.

Wind turbines don't run perfectly well in the cold. We've got a bunch of large wind farms in SW Minnesota and eastern North and South Dakota, and even with the so-called cold weather lube they are only rated to run at -20F or warmer. And when they shut down they actually draw power to keep the systems warm to avoid damage. I've no idea what they do to keep the ones in colder climates running but I assume it's costly.

In January 2019 we had similar problems during that polar vortex-- wind was completely offline and actually adding load to the system, and gas plants were shutting down due to equipment failures. Fortunately it only lasted a couple days and they were able to draw power from other states.

Now that fulcrum is gone, might I nominate this as the most idiotic post of the thread?

Often questions that begin with “are you saying.?.....” , are straw-man arguments.

The alternative to “quarantine for all” is “quarantine for those at high risk”. That old people with and without co-morbidity’s are disproportionality vulnerable to both COVID and freezing cold happens to be true.
