The idea of free healthcare as a human right is nonsensical on so many levels. Rights do not require others to provide goods or services to you. You have the right to purchase healthcare just as you have the right to pursue happiness. Do you also expect the government to provide its citizens firearms so that they can exercise their second amendment rights?

Even if you could somehow classify free healthcare as a right, how would you even define it? What level of service would be provided? Does this right extend to all humans? Do you see the problem?

Stop changing the meanings of words. "The beginning of wisdom is to call things by their proper name." What you're advocating for is not a right and it doesn't take "standing up like a man" to say so.

Just when you thought some decision makers had balls. Oh well, it's back to the usual business.

Health care is a commodity, like food, clothing, and shelter, since it takes other people and other resources to produce it. One cannot have a right to a commodity, since that requires compulsory labor and the confiscation of property. This has been explained to the boy, but it hasn't soaked in.

I love these assholes that think they have to hear it for it to count.

I'd say 90% of the participants on this thread could accurately give Rip's opinion on such softball question, but because you show up 13468 comments and (allegedly) cannot he must be some coward who is unwilling to have serious conversations about important political issues.

What is with people that believe health care is a human right? Why do they believe that the hard work and skill set of others is owed to them? This is such a bizarre mindset.

It's just a thing they say. A mantra. A pithy expression. Because they'd rather not buy the insurance.

Here is a coherent Covid narrative:

Quarantine for all = Health care as a human right.

This explains the big three: 1) quarantine healthy and young as well as sick and dying. 2) philosophical divide left and right. Mask wearing as a symbol. 3) How the US which had been debating universal health care, became Europe overnight.

If we want to validate this for accuracy here is a typical Q and A:

Q: Why not use inexpensive, proven, and safe drugs for COVID that do not require complicated health insurance? A: inexpensive and readily available is antithetical to health care as a human right which requires all demographics to receive state of the art medical treatment independent of insurance, preexisting conditions, and lifestyle.

NYC does skew the perspective a bit.

Rode my motorcycle to Florida for a few weeks back in March. Definitely a refreshing difference.
