Would you blame Mexico if in 2014 the USA had used their military to annex the Baja California peninsula and then, leading up to today, bemoaned the "fact" that the USA and Mexico are morally, spiritually, and culturally bonded and their break-up was the worst geopolitical catastrophe of the 20th century?

Short answer: it depends on whether Baja California was a recognised autonomous republic within Mexico; and maybe, if they held a referendum to become part of the USA, again as an autonomous republic. Reference is to the 1991, 1994 and 2014 Crimea referendums.

Longer answer, in two parts, none of them decisive (because this stuff, as I said, it's not black and white).

Crimea recognised itself as an autonomous republic within the state of Ukraine. Now, the question is, what happened in 2014? If Maidan was a revolution, then by definition what emerged from it was a different state entity, different from the old one. As such, any allegiance Crimea gave to the old state could be considered void, and Crimea had the right to decide whether to give allegiance to the new state entity, or not. If Maidan was instead simply a coup, Crimea's case would be weaker; on the other hand, anyone who supported the coup (i.e. the whole whole West), instead of working for reinstating the legitimate government, would find themsleves in a very precarious moral position.

Crimea was not annexed; it used its power as autonomous Republic to ask, via a referendum, to become part of Russia, again as an autonomous Republic. I have no idea how legal this is; it seems to me that it must be at least as legal as what happened in Kosovo (actually, more; Kosovo never held a referendum, although its result would have been a foregone conclusion). So, my answer to your question would be that if you consider what happened in Kosovo legal/ok/fair, then you would have to give Crimea a pass. Note: the similarity between Kosovo and Crimea is not the annexation part, but the carving out; once detached, each is free to pursue its own destiny. Crimea decided to return to Russia, Kosovo might well decide to ask for annexation to Albania at some point in the future)

Bottom line; what happened in Crimea could be considered a violent, possibly illegal reaction to a violent, and certainly illegal action. I don't think you can judge one but not the other, I don't think you can consider the incident apart from the precedent. I think it's certainly possible to argue that a coup/revolution changes the nature of a State, and in particular makes void all the agreements and conventions that existed between the various parts and bodies of the State before the revolution/coup took place. Hence, it would be logical for some of those agreements/conventions to be renegotiated, or reneged.

All of the above imho opinion of course.

As I'm sure you already know, before Azov were offered a place in the Ukrainian military proper and "rehabilitated" (asked to clean up their optics for the sake of PR), they were open about this kind of thing. Their insignia featured an ancient Germanic Wolfsangel (same as SS Division Das Reich), with a yellow background and a white sonnenrad/sunwheel. Basically, it's like they contacted an autistic edgelord from 4chan to do their branding.

A bit of an aside, but we live in extremely weird, dangerous times. Young men with perfectly normal and healthy nationalistic tendencies, who feel alienated and lied to, are psychologically wounded and vulnerable. They are absolutely the target of "Fed" operations to draw them down political dead-ends, and into edgy, LARPy but ultimately risky movements and finally into jail, snuffing out all that real, potential political energy. Accompanied by plenty of lascivious media coverage documenting all the Hitlery imagery and strengthening the idea in the public's mind that people with these kinds of ideas are the bad guys in the story. What the system cannot cope with, on the other hand, is a collective of men and women who are outwardly normal looking and sounding, attractive, successful and with no obvious autistic, weirdo tendencies. The kind of people you'd let baby-sit your kids, yet have internalised the ideas of someone like Jonathan Bowden. That's what they're actually afraid of growing legs and gaining support.

Basically, if an associate starting sieg heiling, and posing with swastikas, I don't want to be anywhere near the cunt and I'm probably friendlier to NS ideas than him in more than a few ways. The AfD in Germany have had more mainstream success (i.e getting offline/normal people to resonate with their ideas through the fake democratic process) than anyone else in Europe or America because they have totally purged the organisation of anti-Semitism and the imagery associated with all that football ultra/neo-Nazism of yesteryear. Obviously, the legal situation in German has produced this, and it's a good thing for the German nationalism. It is political poison and turns normal people off. Normal people who are state-educated, and have consumed news media product their entire lives, are incapable and uninterested in nuance or difficult truths, but they are unhappy and they're looking for a voice.

So, back to the topic, you should definitely perk up and pay attention when a Jewish banking billionaire oligarch with 3 passports to his name finances arms, violent groups characterised by neo-Nazi politics and anti-Semitism, in Ukraine (a country with a relatively big population of Jews) and knowing what we know, as shared by Gilead, about the history of Ukrainians themselves treating Jews worse than the Germans in the 1940's. This is what makes the part about his Jewish Ukrainian identity worthy of taking notice of in the first instance, and it goes further. He has donated millions to Chabad in New York, and flits between Israel and Switzerland. He's clearly not just some random billionaire who happens to be vaguely secular Jewish-ish. Nothing about him is average, and he carefully (and expensively) managed the circumstances which placed Western puppet Zelenskiy, a TV comedian with no political experience, on the throne.

There are lots of very, messy connections which lead somewhere - and no, I'm not suggesting this would then naturally lead to some kind of broader "Jewish Question" anti-Semitic trope conclusion either and I'm not painting the millions of Jewish people the world over with the same brush.

However, the fact that many of the high-level players involved are Jewish almost precludes certain questions being asked, and any deeper investigations of connections to New York, Wall Street finance, the City of London, all the way to people like Anthony Blinken and Victoria Nuland and are then off the table. Basically, once the connections themselves become too Jewish sounding, they become off limits for further discussion. So, if I was a Machiavellian power broker and wanted to orchestrate a series of terrible, horrible events which would be catastrophic for all opposing "sides" of the conflict, and would inevitably result in a consolidation of power, then I would make sure to involve as many wealthy, egomaniacal Jewish oligarch fuckheads, Israel-linked companies and dual-citizen political whores as possible. Anyone who investigated what I was up to and managed to delve too deep could then be brushed away with the political kryptonite accusation of anti-Semitism, or just called a plain-old Nazi, and with groups like the ADL and or even AIPAC able to exert so much political sway in our disgusting system, that shit actually works a charm. The true beauty of this is you can't engage someone in a brief conversation, without a massive preamble, about these connections, and drop some truth, without coming across as an anti-Semitic nutcase - at least to the average, MSM-consuming normie person whose reality is dictated and shaped by sound-bytes and headlines. Someone reading that may well argue "That's because what your saying is anti-Semitic" (probably wearing transparent-frame spectacles & with intense vocal fry) but I would disagree.

Creating a narrative of the West, vs Russia, with accusations of Nazism thrown into the mix creates the most chaotic political maelstrom with the highest possible chance of escalation on both sides. It's almost like there's an international class who, in the end, stand to gain from this mess whatever the outcome and the good people of Ukraine are too blinded by the narrative to see they're being used.

Basically, I'm suggested that what Professor Antony C. Sutton says (video below - buy his book) explains today's situation perfectly. Watch this one, and don't think about 1917 but think about today, and think about the catastrophic lengths these internationalists are willing to go to. The bankers don't want strong independent nations just like back in 1917 when they fomented the revolution in Russia. The same applies today.
